Sedona & Flagstaff Suggested Itineraries

Amazing scenery, a thriving arts scene, Native American culture, and mystical forces make Sedona and Flagstaff much more than just stopping off points on the way to the Grand Canyon.

Day 1: Sedona Highlights

Spend the morning getting acquainted with the city of Sedona and its fascinating red rock surrounds. It’s a topographic rollercoaster as you take a scenic drive through Oak Creek Canyon, then up to Airport Mesa and to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, nestling right in the red rocks. Along the way you’ll hear about the mysterious healing energies of Sedona’s “vortices” and get the chance to buy Native American handcrafts. In the afternoon, go on an amazing off-road jeep safari through the high desert country of Diamondback Gulch and Grand Arroyos.

Day 2: Sedona Options

Still hankering for off-road adventures? Start in the relative cool of the morning and mix and match your choice of routes. You can recreate a spectacular old stagecoach trail, follow in the footsteps (or hoof prints) of cowboys, head for historic Soldier’s Pass, or leave the bumps behind and get back on the road for the best of Sedona scenery. You can also learn more about those “vortices” which make the area such a magnet for spiritual seekers.

Day 3: Flagstaff

Pine forests and dramatic peaks surround Flagstaff, home of the famous Lowell Observatory and gateway to the Grand Canyon. There are numerous options for day trips from here. Want to snap some stunning scenery? Experience the dazzling light and color of Antelope and Glen Canyons and Lake Powell, plus a visit to the Navajo Indian Reservation. Want to get right off the road? Take a relaxing boat trip on the Colorado River through Glen Canyon. Want to see where countless of Westerns and other films were made? Head off in the air-conditioned comfort of special sightseeing vehicles through the haunting, timeless landscape of Monument Valley, stopping at a traditional Navajo village along the way.

Doing what: Grand Canyon South Rim Day Trip from Sedona

Excellent way to see the Grand Canyon from various viewpoints. The train trip option was fun, but slow, even with the occasional entertainment. A good way to see the area though. Our tour guide, Joe, is a geology buff and was extremely knowledgeable about how the entire area from Sedona to the South Rim came into existence and how it evolved over the several millions of years. Very educational, and a great way to spend a full day.

Doing what: Scenic Sedona Tour

Our tour was beyond excellent. We saw everything that we wanted to and more. Our tour guide, Devon, was fantastic and extremely knowledgable about Sedona and the surrounding area. We would gladly book another tour with Viator. There were four of us and everyone praised Devon. He was on time and very accomodating.

Great Job!!!!!

Doing what: Scenic Sedona Tour

My husband and I just got home from our Sedona trip. This tour is a must for first time visitors to this magical place. Dave, our tour guide, was phenomenal. He not only toured, but he taught, which was priceless. We went back to some of the places he took us to and didn't get lost finding them. We were able to see so much more. Thanks, Uncle Dave, for a memorable time. You are priceless. We put the pic you took of us at the wedding tree in a beautiful Sedona frame. We are looking forward to our next trip and will ask for you on a different tour. You have a gem in Dave. Bless you all. Kevin and Renee
