Must-Do Experience, Nature & Wildlife, Off-the-Beaten Path, Sailing, Scuba Diving, Sunrise / Sunset, Swim & Snorkel, Water Sports, Monument - Natural, Reef
You think diving and snorkeling, you think places like the Caribbean, right? But imagine diving in Egypt - wild, right? Think about it - sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling - is there any better way to spend a day in the Egyptian sun? Get a real taste for it by heading out to Tiran Island, northeast of Sharm el Sheikh in the Gulf of Aqaba for a cruise and a spot of snorkeling. This protected island has bright blue lagoons and technicolor reefs to swim and snorkel around. Although there's no law against just soaking up some rays on the sundeck if that's more your speed!
At Sinai's famous Ras Mohammed National Park, (one of Egypt's most popular dive and snorkeling sites), you'll find an incredible abundance of underwater life - fish, corals, sharks - to snorkel amongst. It's a lovely day trip from Sharm el Sheikh and a cruise and snorkeling tour is just the way to get to know the area. It's easy to hire snorkeling gear and a day trip like this is ideal for beginners and families.
If you don't want to spend a whole day in the deep sea but still want to get your toes wet, you could always take a mixed bag private tour of a Sinai jeep safari with some snorkeling at Abu Galum along with a camel ride and Bedouin lunch! You'll take a two-hour jeep safari from Sharm el Sheikh to the amazing Colored Canyon to check out the local wildlife before snorkeling the reef gardens of the Blue Hole, arguably Egypt's most famous dive spot for a neat half an hour. And how do you dry off? With a camel ride through the Egyptian desert, of course!

Fabulous day, very attentive staff and good lunch. As a novice snorkeller I was given all the assistance required. What could be better than a day snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing under the Egyptian sun.
