Palermo has several outdoor markets that are worth exploring, depending on where you are in the city and what you’re looking for. While visiting these markets is considered safe, they’re also prime locations for pickpockets – so don’t make yourself a target. Leave your valuables at your hotel, wear a money belt (under your clothes!) for the cash you might need, and keep things like your camera out of reach. Most of these markets are open Monday-Saturday from the crack of dawn until the early afternoon.
