Hop on hop off bus, excellent way to orientate to Singapore, and work out where to re-visit later.
We were given an extra day, and an additional tour. Well worth the $$'s
I took the Hop-on Hop-off tours in 3 places: Singapore, London and Cardiff. This one was the last one of the 3 and surprisingly, the staff were rude and not accommodating at all.
Redeeming my prepaid voucher was a nightmare. Instead of being able to do so on the bus, I was told (when I boarded) that I had to make my own way to the Mall. Once there, I tried again to get on a bus and was told I had to redeem my voucher inside the mall.
There are plenty of buses and 3 different routes which cover the entire city. Buses run every 20 minutes or less, so you don't have to wait long.
The commentary is pre-recordered but set to a low volume and if you're on the upper deck, you cannot hear what's being said.
The shocker was when the tour circles around to Mall and we all had to get off whether we wanted to continue or not. When I asked if we had to get off, the driver said, "yes, you have to get off. That's why it's called a hop on/hop off bus." What??
If I had it to do again, I'd choose this same company because it seems to be the only one for sightseeing that covers as much of the city, but I would not expect it to be as nice as the ones in Cardiff and London run by the same company
If you're looking for a great way to see the highlights and have only a short time to see them then this is for you. We used this on our stop over from Australia back to the UK and got to see more than we could have done on foot. We also had time to hop off a couple of times to visit the places of most interest to us. Good value for money.
Excellent way to see the city if your time is limited. Lets you pick and choose the areas that you want to spend more time.
Bus was great but had to go to central office to pick up sticker (which was near the flyer)...hotel was in Suntec but couldn't get on there. Bus stops were not well marked, bus was great
good idea. But lackluster bus driver run over the stations, which are anyway already approached in a very long intervals. From 5.30P.M. it's over
Finding the Bus pick up point was difficult and time consuming. Otherwise it would have got 4 stars.
Excellent value for money and the ideal way to discover Singapore. This gives you the foundation to know where the sites are in relation to each other so even when the pass runs out you know what is possible to visit on your own and the distances between each site. Plan your visit wisely as various locations are quite spread out. The Botanical Gardens are quite a way up but well worth a visit. You can get off and get back on the bus here but allow time for going around the gardens as they are quite big.
We got on the bus with our voucher outside our hotel which fortunately was one of the stops (no not Raffles) and showed our Viator voucher. We were allowed to board the bus which took us to the main terminal to have our ticket validated. Have a look around the shops at the main terminal before getting your ticket validated and you will then have longer to travel as the tickets is from validation and NOT when you board the bus originally. A must do in Singapore.
our only moan is that there is no way of alerting the driver that you wish to get off, so if there isn't anyone wishing to get on at a stop, the driver does not stop, we missed several stops.
This is a great way to get a feel of the city and to see and hear about different locations. The comentary is in English and has some interesting information.
