After taking a Taxi to the meeting point from our cruise ship. We started with dinner, it was an Irish pub and the food was very good. Next we took a bus ride to "The Gardens By the Bay" and saw an interesting light show which is done to music. Next was a Market. Then on to the Bum Boat ride. The Boat ride at Clarke's Quay was delightful. We saw the Merlion and many unusual light displays. It was a very enjoyable evening. Worth the money.
Dinner at Irish Pub at flyer was basic but good. Plenty of time for dinner before tour.Light show at Gardens by the Bay excellent. Had done Bumboat ride before but was worth doing again for the overall price of tour. Had also been changed to round trip ex Clarke Quay which was great as was staying at Novotel Clarke quay.
This was a good way to see most of Singapore. It started with a meal in a local bar, very basic but enjoyable. Then the tour began on a bus and we visited China town which was a good introduction if you should decide to revisit for dinner. We went tothe Gardens by the bay. This was amazing with the tall manmade solar power trees. The tour finished on a bum boat which took us across the bay and we saw the daily laser show from the boat - brilliant. Took us on to Clarke Quay where we decided to get off as were staying nearby.
Bus arrived promptly at 6 PM on a huge 44 seat bus from Robertson Quay Hotel and delivered us to Singapore Flyer- City Tour office at hub 1-5. behind the juice bar where the driver kindly helped me get down with my two walking canes by lowing the bus with hydraulics. We waited inline for 13 minutes to confirm our voucher, collect tickets on the Bum Boat tour and discovered we do not get entry to the Cloud Dome, or other parts of the Garden by the Bay, only the open air free light show under the Avatar like trees. We were rushed away to order dinner after I prompted that we needed food vouchers and the leader did not want me complaining about access to the Garden. O Leary’s fish was huge, and the chips were delicious as was the cold slaw. We drank water because the meal did not include a drink. (Why our tickets, meal vouchers and instructions were not in an envelope in a place where we could collect quickly instead of wasting time inline after being told the bus will leave without you if you are not there promptly at these times…) and that the entrance to Garden by the Bay is limited, seemed a bit strange. But we liked the food and that was a plus so far. We took our food to go and got on the bus. Phillip, welcomed everyone to the tour for the GBB, Bugis, and Bumboat tour and gave instructions not to stand on the seats and keep your children from running around because they could fall out and it is a double decker bus. He also informed us we could not eat on the bus as a public conveyance in Singapore. Which I had already done. We passed the Marina Sands Bay Hotel with the boat at the top, made our way to Gardens by the Bay. Phillip helped us take photos, directed me to the elevators and met us in front of the area where the light show was held. He was very helpful. What a show! Glad we got to see it! However, bus left us behind. So we rode a cab to finish on the delightful Bumboat River Tour ahead of the group and left in time to go to the airport August 16th.
The tour was good value - as far as what we paid - but we would prefer to pay a bit more and get a better service. There were only four of us doing the complete tour so maybe that was why it seemed a bit amateur. We checked in and were rushed off to O'Learys pub for our dinner. We had 20 minutes for this to be ordered, served and eaten although we arrived in good time. Very noisy - choice of food limited to chicken or fish and chips was ok. Probably what we paid for as the rest of the tour was getting us around in the hop-on-hop-off bus. The commentary was very hard to understand - not the guide's fault - just poor sound equipment in the bus. The Gardens By the Bay was fascinating ( I have done a separate review). Bugis st was a huge rush. The ride on the bum boat was a bit too long as we went up and down and back again picking up people before we got going. We were taken back to Clarke Quay - not the Raffles or Singapore Flyer as advertised but that suited us as we were staying at Clarke Quay. The itinerary is a bit rushed - but if you don't have much time and on a budget it is excellent value - we would have preferred something more leisurely.
This was disappointing as the description on Viator turned out to be last years tour - that's what I was told anyway. Expecting the tour to finish at the Raffles hotel (just across the road from where we were staying) we were not happy to find out that it finished at Clark Quay and we were expected to make our own way back to our hotel. Seeing the city lit up at night was memorable but we didn't end up getting the tour that we expected.
