- Admission:Free
Low-lying Anguilla makes an interesting contrast to mountainous St Maarten. This British-controlled island is less developed than some of its neighbors, even though its beaches compare with the best in the world. There’s the usual range of Caribbean activities on offer – golf, diving, fishing – but it's the stunning coastline you'll most remember. Whether you go for the placid waters of Cove Bay or the wide stretch of Mead’s Bay, you're going to wish you packed a thesaurus.
Prickly Pear Cays, two tiny islands to Anguilla’s north-west, let you live the dream of a private desert island for at least a few hours. You’ll be dragged kicking and screaming back on to the boat; the islands are uninhabited so everyone has to leave at the end of the day.

Anguilla’s airport, roughly in the middle of the island, can only accept short-haul flights. Puerto Rico or nearby St Maarten are the best transfer points; for the last leg, the ferry from Marigot to Blowing Point is a good alternative to flying. St Maarten is also the point of departure for charter boat trips to Prickly Pear Cays.
