Jungfraujoch in Switzerland

At well over 11,000 feet, the train station known as the Jungfraujoch is the highest station of its kind in Europe. Built to increase accessibility and tourism to Jungfrau (the third-highest peak in the Bernese Alps), the station is unlike any other. Within, a large complex of tunnels connects a hotel, two restaurants, an observatory, a research station, a small cinema, a ski school and a collection of elaborate ice sculptures. There is also a flat, snow-covered outdoor area where visitors can take the mountain air and gaze at the surrounding peaks, valleys and other beautiful scenery.
