Almost on the edge of Sydney, and visible on a clear day from the city's observation towers, the beautiful World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains are the perfect destination for an idyllic day trip from the hustle-bustle of downtown Sydney. Protected as a national park, the Blue Mountains reward visitors with the stunning scenery of rugged sandstone outcrops, cavernous valleys and towering eucalyptus forests, and the charming mountain towns are the focus of teashops and antique stores.

Take advantage of Scenic World's cable cars and tramways to see the best of the Blue Mountains, including the beautiful Three Sisters rock formation. Glide between clifftops and over the rainforest on the Scenic Skyway tram; descend into the Jamison Valley on the Scenic Railway, the steepest passenger railway; explore the tranquil rainforest along the Scenic Walkway and climb back to the top with unbeatable views on the Scenic Cableway.

A favorite haven of bushwalkers and rock climbers, the area offers outdoor pursuits, scenic drives, manicured gardens, leisurely shopping and pampering at spas and luxurious accommodations. Other attractions include the Zig Zag Railway, Norman Lindsay Gallery at Springwood and the Jenolan Caves.

We were picked up promptly at our preassigned hotel, and headed off in a van for our day in the Blue Mountains. We had quite an international group that day, and it was interesting sharing experiences with one another. Our driver/guide was quite knowledgeable, and went out of his way to accommodate any special requests we had. As is common in these mountains it was rainy the day we went and so a clear view of the three sisters was not to be. If you were patient enough the clouds would clear briefly and you could catch a glimpse of the rocks. We stopped in a couple of small villages and had time to shop, get a snack, or just enjoy the architecture. The driver took into account the weather conditions of the day and made appropriate changes so everyone had good experiences. The wild animal park was interesting, not our first in Australia, so the fact that the visit was short didn't bother us. The concluding cruise back into the city was a lovely end to the day. I would recommend this tour over the ones that are with larger groups. With the smaller vehicle we could travel more easily through the narrow streets in the villages. All in all a great day.

First thing to mention was the tour company went out of their way to help us out after we missed our initial pick up - they sent another bus to pick us up and took us to meet up with the original bus. This was service above and beyond what I expected as it was my fault we missed the bus in the first place. The trip was made exceptional by our tour guide Nigel. He was funny and informative and went the extra mile to make our trip special. The Blue Mountains were one of the highlights of our trip - especially the walkabout near the Wentworth Falls. Would highly recommend this company and say it was very good value too. If you want top spec coaches this probably isn't for you but if you want great value and very good guides then I couldn't recommend them more highly.

This was an excellent tour! Our tour guide, Mark, really took time to make sure everyone got as much out of the day as possible. Featherdale was the best of the zoos we visited in Sydney, and the Blue Mountains were stunning. This really was the best day of our trip. We would definitely recommend it!
