Taronga Zoo's inhabitants have habitats with views overlooking Sydney Harbour, with especially prized panoramas being nabbed by the giraffes. The zoo's lively program of events includes sleepovers, daily presentations, animal encounters, and guided tours.

Have your photo taken with a koala or owl, meet the reptile keeper, follow the bush bird trail, speak to a gorilla, or say hello to the elephants. Twilight visits reveal the animals at their most active, and a fully cooked Aussie breakfast is served at morning sessions.

This summer you can enjoy the 'Dinosaurs in the Wild' exhibition! Get up close to lifesize and lifelike dinosaurs like the Triceratops, Dilophosaurus, and of course, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Learn about these prehistoric creatures, their extinction, and how we can help modern-day species avoid a similar fate. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the special dinosaur themed activities including Dinosaur Keeper Talks, the Fossil Pit and a competition to win some great prizes.

This exhibition will be at Taronga Zoo until January 31, 2013, and is included in the Taronga Zoo daily admission ticket.

We had a great day at the Sydney Taronga Zoo. The Cable Car was under maintenance so we did not get to do that but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the zoo and the Wild Australia Experience was not only educational but was so much fun! The zoo keeper who guided our small group of 8 was knowledgeable and we got to do and see so much behind the scenes. It was our first full day in Sydney and what a wonderful introduction to the native wildlife. We highly recommend Wild Australia if you want to pet and feed Wallaby's, Kangaroos and other animals and get up close and personal with those cute little Koalas!

I enjoyed the zoo. My guide was very knowledgeable and introduced me to all sorts of animals I had never see before expect in films and photos. She helped me see thing at the zoo that if I was just walking and looking on my own, I would have missed. Before I left for the day, I even shared a small portion I learned to others that did not have a guide like I did. It may cost a little more for a guide, but well worth it. I would tell you more, gut I say go, see and learn for yourself. You will enjoy it as much as I did.

The tour experience at Taronga Zoo was fantastic! We had the pleasure of having two(2) guides show us through the zoo and explain a host of amazing facts about the native animals of Australia. There is no better way to become acquainted with the wildlife of Australia......

Practical Info

With some the best harbor real estate in the city of Sydney, Taronga Zoo is on Little Sirius Cove, a couple of inlets east of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The zoo is a 12-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay, with ferries departing every 30 minutes.

To get to the entry gates, ride the cable car Skyrail or catch a bus. The zoo is large and exhibits are spacious, so you might like to jump on the miniature train to get around.
