Oxford Street runs a fair distance across the city of Sydney, starting from Hyde Park in the Central Business District, and stretching out to the Eastern Suburbs. While little shops and specialty stores run throughout Oxford Street, the area closest to the CBD is more predominantly known for being the bar and club section of the strip, and the area near Darlinghurst is known for being Sydney’s gay neighborhood. The shopping district lies mostly around the Paddington strip section, where upmarket shops and retail dominate.
