Good Place to Relax, Nature & Wildlife, Swim & Snorkel, Island
Few would disagree that Moorea offers better beaches than nearby Tahiti. But this tropical paradise is also cheaper than its better-known big sister, making it the ideal destination in French Polynesia.
You’ll be pinching yourself as you drive around the island looking out on the dazzling turquoise waters of the lagoon. Recommended stopping off points include the Afareaitu Falls, the vistas of Toatea View Point and Opunohu Bay, which took Captain Cooks’ breath away in 1777.
Before long you'll be back on the beach to cool down with a swim and a snack of locally-grown pineapple, or recharge before snorkeling, diving or even hiking the rugged interior.

Practical Info
Moorea lies to the east of Tahiti, with sea and air crossings joining the two islands. Ferry trips take between 30 and 50 minutes, light plane just ten; stunning views of the lagoon make this a particularly attractive option.
