For the War history enthusiast, Hellfire Pass is a must see. Best place to start from is Kanchanarburi, about 4 hours to the west of Bangkok this is an area where many Allied soldiers lost their lives while building an unbelievable railway linking Thailand through Myanmar. A sobering experience to walk the tracks where hundreds of soldiers and local workers perished, all whilst listening to an audio commentary of what you see in front of you. Depending on how fit you are you can do a full day out at Hellfire Pass itself and walk the approximate 5 km of line that is available to see and the very realistic museum plus do a tour of the Kanchanarburi Death Railway Museum and Allied War Cemetery whilst in the city of Kanchanarburi itself. Or do an individual tour depending on what you want to see.
