Fabulous sites, tour guide is very knowledgeable and helpful, everything is very well organised. Highly recommended.
Overall the tour was good. However, it was not what we paid for. Having specifically choosen this tour over other internet advertised tours on Viator's itinerary only half the itinerary was covered. Very disappointing as the substitute waterfall and absence of lake views did not give the Nikko region justice.
A good day out with an excellent tour guide apart from the visit to the Summer Palace. This
seemed like a waste of time. We were told that
this was an change of schedule from the former schedule.
Everyone receives a 5 star rating. But we were assigned seat 13 and !4 on the bus. No one should be assigned those seats, because there was a huge metal box, attached to the floor, under the seat in front of us. NO SHOE, TOE, AND FORGET ABOUT LEG ROOM. We asked for a different seat but the bus was full and no other seats were available. No one should have this seat assigned to them. The attached to the floor metal box made the bus ride miserable. If I were assigned such seats again with said box I would not accept the seat and demand my money back. Other wise the tour guide, bus driver and all other experiences were great.
Heavy rain made it kinda a rough day but we managed. The high point of the tour was a visit to the villa once used by the royal family.
We decided to book a day tour to Nikko as opposed to traveling there by train and spending one or two nights. The Viator tour was the right choice. It was apparent that we (3 of us traveling together) would have spent most of our time just arranging transportation, walking miles, and studying local maps and probably requiring 2 days to cover what the tour did in one day. Our leader Mr. Takadashi was extremely knowledgable about all aspects of Japanese culture, especially economics and current affairs. And, the Japanese lunch included in our tour was excellent, one of the best in our two-week stay. I still have my origami Samurai helmet (miniature) and instructions
Nikko was very good lots of different temples.shrines.
The waterfall is also very nice and you get a sense of amazement when you first see it. Our english speaking guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Well worth a trip even if to only find out the whole story behind the 3 famous monkeys. However like much of Japan, when visiting please be aware that there is lots of walking and lots of concrete steps, but manageable.
The tour guide was wonderful and had a wonderful sense of humor. I loved that she set the ground curtesy rules at the beginning of tour. Her english was really good and she was very knowledgeable on the different sights that we went to, even places en route, definitely made the trip very entertaining for me.
The meal was ready right when we got there, which was awesome. It was delicious, filling but not overstuffing. I loved the tour, the sights were beautiful, overall this is a very wonderful tour that I would highly recommend to anyone.
It was a wonderful trip, the temples with the woods and snow was magical. Lunch was tasty and beautifully presented. Our guide was very helpful, love to go again during warmer climate.
Well done, informative, well organized, personal, and all around a great cultural exploration. Kudos to the tour guide, assistants, driver, and organizer: only the Japanese can be so thoroughly prepared, on-time, and absolutely friendly.
There wasn't enough time at each location. The bus ride time needs to be specified and the amount of time at each location needs to be specified. Overall I had a great time.
