Doing what: Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo

The tour was as described on the web page so we got to see and do everything, the only problem I had with it was the rushing that is involved (hence the 3 stars). There's a lot of time spent traveling from one place to the next and when you get to the next place you are given about 20 mins to look around before being whipped away again. However our tour guide was brilliant and kept us interested throughout the whole day with information and the history of japan. We did the whole package so had the traditional meal which was nice and ended the day returning by the bullet train,a must for everybody.

Doing what: Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo

This day was a disaster! There was an accident on the highway and it took us four hours to get to Mt Fuji. It was raining and foggy at the mountain so we couldn't see anything. At the end of the tour our guide Yoko could not explain to us how to return to our hotel. She told me I had to take 3 subway rides but instead other savvy travelers told me to take the bullet train which was only a half hour ride. Yoko just deserted us at the end of the trip. All agreed that she was the worst tour guide in Japan.

I'm not normally one for guided tours but this was surprisingly good. Our guide was 'Fish' who advised the group of interesting facts along the way. We left in a comfortable coach and stopped off at a couple of viewing areas on the way to Mt Fuji. The lunch was provided at a hotel restaurant and was an excellent variety of a few Japanese delicacies (Sashimi, Sushi, Dumplings etc). In the afternoon we headed off for a very brief cruise on Lake Ashi and then to the Mt Komagatake aerial cableway which was unfortunately covered in mist. We returned by Bullet train which for those that haven't been on a high speed train is a great experience

Our guide was first class. Friendly, knowledgeable and informative and entertaining. Unfortunately weather was not good and Mt Fuji and view from top of cable car was zero. We thought the trip tried to fit too much in the time available but was neverthe less interesting. Bullet train a high point. Five stars for the guide but only three for the tour.

Doing what: Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo

This is a good tour if you want to see Fuji and some other beautiful areas outside of Tokyo. However, from the start we were advised that due to traffic conditions our journey could easily take three hours before we get to our first stop. we were al advised to use the bathroom before departure.
It did indeed take us 3hours and 15 minutes, the most boring and non scenic journey I have undertaken in a long time. S o here is a suggestion. 1, your people on the ground know how long this can take, and this is a regular trip, so why not use the bullet train to go out and then collect everyone by coach? hey presto a quarter of the day saved to do other more interesting things.
To be honest the journey out took the shine off of the tour, as we were not able to follow the proposed itinerary which was a real shame.
Please have a re-think about how you can make this tour work better, because it is not cheap.
The Guide was fantastic, a lovely lady who did her best to keep us interested during the journey and kept us all together and moving as one.
Fuji was awesome, but we had a lot of cloud on the day so could not appreciate its full majesty.
The lakes were beautiful and it would have been nice to have had the cruise and spent some more time in that area.
The highlight for me was the bullet train and I on my next visit I hope to take a longer journey on the train.
Worth doing but the logistics need to be sorted, think about it.

Worth every penny! The trip was never boring as the tour guide was extremely knowledgable and told the tour bus facts and stories about Tokyo, Mt Fuji, and Japan in general. The scenery on the way to and up the mountain was beautiful! The bullet train was also a major highlight. If you haven't been to Mt Fuji, this is definitely the way to go!

Mt. Fuji is in cloud for over 300 days a year- as it was on our visit ! they do not tell you this in the guide books - you take pot luck.
Also you see a town on Lake Ashi which is built inside a volcano which is "dormant"- not a good idea as any vulcanologist will tell you !
The return ride on the bullet train is an experience not to be missed- in the words of the younger generation -awesome- and there are no mobile phone calls allowed on the train ! recommended- but pray for good weather !

While the day started cloudy and visibility poor from Information Centre, when we got to Station 5 we had great views of Mt Fuji. The tour guide was great when we didn't go to Hakone due to Fog and kept us up to date. Went to another Lake and got stunning views of Mt Fuji from the boat. Bullet Train ride home was great. Very enjoyable day, tour handled excellently with the change of plans. Highly recommended.

Excellent triop. Well worth the money. Travel company in Tokyo were efficient. Picked up at hotel with no issues. Very foggy day when we travelled. Company made arrangements for us to go on another cable car and boat so that we had a view of Mount Fuji. We paid extra for lunch and the bullet train. Both are well worth the extra money. Lunch was in a lovely hotel and the food was well worth the extra money. You had the option to buy alcoholic drinks with your lunch. These were reasonable for Japanese prices and could be paid directly to hotel. Some people had not taken the pre paid lunch option. They struggled to eat in the hotel in the time allocated. There was no where else in the vicinity to eat. If you are not taking the lunch option then I'd advise a packed lunch. There are lots of convenience stores in Tokyo where you could pick up supplies for lunch. Pre packed sandwiches, sushi etc. The journey from Fuji to Hakone is about an hour and a half. We had not appreciated this when booking.

Absolutely fabulous. They pick you up at your hotel. The tour guy was very prepared. He fed us full of information the entire 11 hours, with maps, photos and graphs. The tour guides spent time with each one of us to make sure we were able to navigate back to our hotel after we exited the bullet train. I would recommend this tour because you got to see lots of Japan. Great bang for your buck.

Great trip and well worth it. A really foggy day but did get to see Fuji up close. The tramway up the mountain was so foggy that we could only see about 20 feet. Still I would recommend this. Do the lunch an the bullet train--also worth it

The guide was fantastic she was very knowledgable and kept the passengers entertained when there wasn't much to see.Unfortunately there was very low cloud at most of the sites and it was quite cold but she tried to make us feel very positive about the weather. She was able to point out all the places of interest and even attempted to teach us some basic Japanese phrases. The highlight for me and the reason for taking the tour (for me )was the journey ,albeit short, on the Bullet train. The whole day was well organised right from the pick up at the hotel to the suburban train ticket and directions at the end of the day.I booked on line in Australia and it was all that I expected and worth every cent.A great day out and I would look forward in taking another trip with this company.
