Late March and early April are the best times to view cherry blossoms (Sakura) in Japan. While cherry blossoms can be seen all over Japan (including in Tokyo), Kyoto, with its ancient temples, is one of the prettiest spots to see Sakura. Kyoto is an easy day trip from Tokyo on the bullet train.
