Niagara Falls from Toronto

Not only is Toronto a fascinating destination in itself, it makes a great base for exploring Niagara Falls, just 80 miles (130 kilometers) away. This astonishing natural wonder straddling the US-Canadian border marks the dramatic halfway point of the Niagara River on its course from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.

A day trip takes you through scenic Niagara Peninsula before you arrive at the thundering waters. Take in this awe-inspiring sight over lunch before you get more intimately acquainted with the Horseshoe Falls. Depending on the time of year, you can take an exhilarating ride on the Maid of the Mist boat, with their famous blue raincoats ensuring you stay dry(ish). Otherwise, experience the roar and mist from a different angle on a walk behind the cascade. Or if you really want to get your heart racing, take the afternoon Whirlpool Jet Boat tour. After a panoramic view over Whirlpool Rapids, toast the formidable falls at a local winery on your way back to Toronto.

Unlike many natural attractions, the fun isn’t over once the sun sets on Niagara Falls. After a morning’s sightseeing in Toronto, head out in air-conditioned comfort through historic Niagara-on-the-Lake before arriving at the falls. You thought they were amazing during the day? Wait until you see them at night, when eye-popping multicolored lights transform them into a watery fantasia, the perfect collaboration of nature and artifice. Head out on the Maid of the Mist again, before relaxing over a buffet dinner, still within sight of the Technicolor torrent. Fridays and Sundays during the warmer months you can also witness a spectacular fireworks display.

Great time to see Niagara Falls if you are on limited time. Once good thing, you do not have to worry about dealing with all the traffic. Stopping at the Wine shop was good. Wish this trip would also stop at a produce place. It was a fun day!

We planned our trip to Toronto specifically to see Niagara Falls. We took time to decide who we booked our trip to the Falls with and we certainly made the right choice with Viator.
The booking process was easy and we received plenty of updates and communication.
We arrived at the pick up point and was met by our tour manager Alan. He was the perfect guide and kept us captivated the whole journey. We would also like to mention Tim the driver who made up some lost time due to a 'fender bender' on the highway out of Toronto!
We only decided to do the helicopter ride on the way and this was a superb way to see our first sight of the Falls.
The Falls are truly spectacular , the Maid of the Mist is obviously the highlight and was wonderful but we also got up real close and personal on our walk with Alan even though it was pouring with rain he still did this part of the tour!
The meal at the Sheraton was also excellent, I was not expecting this to be as good as it was as I had read some bad reviews, but staff were attentive and choice of food was very good. The desserts were to die for!!
We chose to go on a Friday night for the fireworks and this just topped it off.
It truly was a fabulous trip of a lifetime.
Thanks to Viator, Alan and Tim and of course the Falls!!

Great Tour, well worth the cost. Both the tour guild and bus driver were great. We took the optional helicopter flight and were very pleased to have done so, with some excellent views of Niagara Falls. The Maid of the Mist was also very good and would highly recommend it. The option of seeing falls both by daylight and under lights was very rewarding. The dinner at the Sheraton was excellent.
