Spend a day in the medieval town of Carcassonne
Comment from Tighthead Prop
If you want to see one of the best examples of a typical walled city in the south of France, then I can suggest heading to Carcassonne for the day. The old city sits atop a hill and is a great example of what a walled city used to look like a few centuries ago. You can walk the cobbled streets (along with all the other many visitors), and visit the little galleries, or have lunch at a typical restaurant. A great day out if you want to explore the surrounding countryside around Toulouse.
