How to Get to Venice
Catch the vaporetto ferry to St. Mark’s from the Stazione Marittima, and enjoy a 20-minute sightseeing tour of Venice for the price of a ferry ride! Hourly ferries leave from the S. Marta stop. You could also walk to Piazzale Roma in 10 to 15 minutes, and then catch a more-frequent vaporetto to glide along the Grand Canal. Some cruise lines provide a free shuttle to St. Mark’s. If your cruise ship has docked at the San Basilio terminal, south of Piazzale Roma, you can catch a vaporetto to St. Mark’s from the S. Basilio stop.
One Day in Venice
Gliding in a gondola along the Venetian canals is a definite must-do while you’re in Venice, and joining a walking tour of this ethereal city’s labyrinthine back streets will ensure you won’t get lost!
If you’ve booked a Skip the Line tour of St. Mark’s Basilica and the Renaissance chambers of the Doge’s Palace, you’ll avoid the legendary queues. A Venice in One Day tour includes Skip the Line entry to St. Mark’s, plus a two-hour walking tour and Grand Canal cruise – the essential Venetian experiences in one neat package.
Port Information
Most cruise lines sailing the Mediterranean make a beeline for Venice, including Celebrity, Cunard, Fred Olsen, Hapag-Lloyd, Royal Caribbean, Regent Seven Seas, Princess and Oceania. The currency here is the euro, and there are exchange bureaus, banks and ATMs clustered around St. Mark’s. While Italian is the official language of the locals, English is widely understood in Venice.

Doing what: Venice Arrival Transfer: Cruise Port to Central Venice
This was very expensive compared to public transportation. We had reservations at a hotel by St. Mark's square which has waterway access, Because of my husband's COPD this was much easier then draging luggage up and down steps and bridges to try and find the hotel. We were on a ship for 18 days and had a total of 8 pieces of luggage between the 3 of us. This was so easy other then the fairly long walk to the water taxi. I highly recommend this if you or any one with you has any kind of physical handicap. They handled all the luggage and stop right at the hotel.

Doing what: Venice Departure Transfer: Central Venice to Cruise Port
Tracked the Venice tides well and drove the boat skillfully. Wish we could rate this at a 6 start level.
