There are several boat races in the Venetian lagoon from May through September, and the last one of the season is the Burano Regatta – the Regata di Burano in Italian. It is, as the name suggests, at the island of Burano, one of the islands in the Venetian lagoon popular for its brightly-painted houses and tradition of lace-making. Should you find yourself in Venice in September, make a point to check out this historic race.
