This year, the 14th February, the time we celebrate San Valentino, the patron saint of lovers, falls very close to the most important time of the Carnival, the weekend following the last day of martedì grasso (or Fat Tuesday) on the 21st.

This presents a wonderful opportunity to have a romantic time with your beloved in Venice followed by a week of pure enjoyment while staying in a central Venetian apartment, allowing you to dive straight in to party atmosphere of the Venetian Carnival.

And just to add to the romance, I can personally walk you through the paths of lovers and legends and entertain you with some of the most incredible tales that have taken place in this most romantic of cities.

In between a walk and a glass of wine in our 'baccari' you can follow the program of the carnival which is outlined at Carnevale Venezia.

For the best views of Venice:

Out of the Punta della Dogana (possibly at sunset)
Zattere sitting in a cafe
The terrace of the Hotel Laguna over looking Venice on the Lido (best in the warm season)
Corte del Remer with a glass of prosecco looking at the Rialto Bridge
Rialto the market area on the side of the Grand Canal

Shows / performances in Venice:

If there isn't a performance on at the Teatro La Fenice, a very nice event is Musica a Palazzo. It is an opera at Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto. They change opera during the week and is very beautiful in an incredible setting.
