Doing what: Skip the Line: Best of Venice Walking Tour including Basilica di San Marco
This tour too was longer than it should've been. It was nice to see the Marco Polo home, but otherwise the walk through Venice was uneventful and not very interesting. The group was much too large and the ear plugs were of poor quality, which made it difficult to hear. The tour itself was rushed so when we did come upon sites that generated questions we only stopped briefly but then had to keep going to stay on schedule. The highlights of the tour were the Basilica and Doge's Palace, only I wish we had more time to explore at a slower pace and ask questions. We didn't get any history of the Palazzo or the bell tower. I do think the itinerary was too much for the amount of time devoted; it would have been better to spend the whole time just in and around the Palazzo, Basilica, and Doge's Palace, rather then spending the first part of the tour walking around the city.
My recommendation is based primarily on the fact that we didn't have to wait to enter the Basilica or Doge's Palace, which was nice. The lines to get into both were very long; if you can arrange another tour or purchase your tickets to these sites in advance, it might be more worth it than taking this specific tour.

Doing what: Venice Walking Tour and Gondola Ride
We lucked out. It was a BEAUTIFUL day in Venice and the gondola ride was perfect (just wish it was longer).
The tour was pretty good except for the devices we have to use...if you were further than a couple yards away, you would not be able to hear the guide.

Doing what: Venice Ghost Walking Tour
The Venice Ghost Walking Tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. It was a cold, windy, rainy night which sort of added to the ghostly, creepy ambiance of the tour. The meeting place was easily found and the tour guide was punctual and very animated. She was full of stories and information; her English was excellent and her stories kept us all interested, especially our 11 and 14 year old sons. Some of the stories were grisly but very entertaining; lots of historical tidbits and lots of walking around. We would all highly recommend this tour and were all glad that we did it!!

Doing what: Skip the Line: Venice Walking Tour with St Mark's Basilica
We thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour of Venice. Our guide was knowledgeable and gave us so much information beyond just telling us what we were seeing. The history and current issues were so well covered, that we would have liked doing it again, just to absorb more of what we were learning. Definitely worth the money and time.

Doing what: Venice by Night Tour and Gondola Ride
The guide from Dark Rome - Andrea was excellent and it was thrilling to be shown through all the small streets, over bridges and land up at the Gondola ride which was a perfect end to the first night in Venice.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Venice in One Day
I would recommend this tour. We were able to see the highlights of venice in one day which left other days to relax and enjoy this beautiful city on our own. The tour is in 2 sections. The morning is a walking tour, and the afternoon is a boat tour. This left time for a relaxing lunch on our own. We gained a very good understanding of the city and were able to fully enjoy the remainder of our time experiencing the beaufy, wine, and food of the city, as well as shopping.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries Tour
This was the best of all the tours. Entry was before general admission so it was a great opportunity for taking photos which would have been impossible later. The tour really takes you to the parts of the building not accessible with a general ticket. We went right up into the roof space as the structure explains the absence of pillars in room below. Our guide was very good although by the time we got to main parts of the building think she had run out of things to say. Another trip to explain the main parts of the building would have been helpful as do not feel there was sufficient time to fully appreciate some of the art works but really recommend.
