Doing what: Private Tour: Venice Half-Day Walking Tour

We arrived the night before in Venice for our first trip to italy and it was great to have a local guide to show us around and help us get our bearings. Nicole was an fantastic guide and not only showed us the highlights of Venice, she gave us insight into local culture (and how to get around in quite a tricky city) and the confidence to go it alone afterwards. We were a family group of 4 and it was definitely worth doing this as a private tour. HIghly recommended - we had a wonderful time with our guide and loved Venice.

Doing what: Venice Walking Tour and Gondola Ride

When we were met outside the tourist office in St. Mark's Square by the tour guide everything seemed a little unorganised at first as there were lots of other people waiting too and we were unsure what was happening. He didn't really introduce himself properly and just told everyone to follow him. When we got to the gondolas we waited until we were called up by the names that were on our documents. As my husband and I were the first at the tourist office I thought we would be first on the gondola but we weren't and unfortunately I had to sit separately from my husband on the uncomfortable chair. Anyway having said all the negatives the actual ride was beautiful! It did help that we had a gorgeous sunny day and the canal looked lovely. The gondolier had an earpiece on and was on the phone for most of the time but it didn't really bother us as we were admiring the stunning views. When we finished the ride we were met by another guide who introduced herself and handed us a head set. Her English was exceptional. She took us round lots of back streets and showed us some really interesting parts of Venice as she spoke about its history. I'm glad we booked through Viator as it took the stress out of bargaining with the gondoliers for a price on the day! and the tour round the less touristy part of Venice was very interesting too.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Venice in One Day

It was amazing to see beautiful Venice. Our guide did a great job in showing us the city. Taking us down side streets and not just showing us the tourist sights.

Good general tour but would have been disappointed if we had not upgraded and included the Doge's Palance - this was the highlight of the tour.

Excellente guide, Christina. De très bonnes histoires... Le circuit n'est pas difficile et prend environ 1h30. À recommander.

Doing what: Venice Ghost Walking Tour

This tour was excellent. The tour guide did an exceptional job of telling spooky stories and being credible. In spite of the dismal weather the tour was very fun.

Doing what: Venice Walking Tour and Gondola Ride

The tour guide was informative. She walked us through parts of the City that we would not had found on our own. The gondola ride was great. Very enjoyable.

Doing what: Venice Walking Tour and Gondola Ride

Well worth the time and money invested in this tour. Guide was knowledgable and personable. Tour was very well organized and transition to the gondola portion was seamless.

Only 4 stars instead of 5 because we did have a bit of a hard time hearing the guide at times. Otherwise, would highly recommend!

It was pouring rain and St. Mark's was flooded, but our group thought this just added to the experience. We loved the tour and the skip the line access to St. Marks.

Doing what: Venice Walking Tour and Gondola Ride

Would recommend this tour if only to get some history on this city as the tour guide was very knowledgable as you would expect. After meeting at specific point, We went off in smaller groups according to which language you spoke. Large English speaking group and only two in the French group! We were each given a walkie talkie with headphones to listen to the tour guide and the only criticism I have is that if you we're at the back of the group I found it difficult to hear what she was saying clearly. You share a gondola ride at the end of the tour with 5 others. Enjoyed the afternoon!

Doing what: Skip the Line: Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries Tour

This tour was good. We went in late March, it is a cold, drafty old place and that only added to the mystique as we toured the prison cells and weapons. This tour takes you where most people do not go, and we saw weaponry in the attic, prison cells and stories. We did indeed skip most of the crowds and the line. It takes about 2 hours and our guide was knowledgeable. Be sure to cross the bridge of sighs and go see the dungeons when your tour ends.

Doing what: Skip the Line: Venice in One Day

We really enjoyed both tours. We really enjoyed the morning tour and thought that the tour guide was charming, informative, and had a lot of knowledge about Venice. The tour was broken up in two parts, which was fine as it gave us an opportunity to eat lunch and shop for a few hours before we hopped on a small boat to tour Venice by boat. Again, the tour guide was great. Unfortunately, the boat we were on was actually rear ended by another fishing boat. I felt so bad for the driver of our boat (it wasn't his fault) because the other boat left a huge gouge in the back of his boat. All in all if you only have a short time in Venice, I think this is a great way to spend half a day. My biggest recommendation with Venice is to simply get lost. Stuff your map in your bag, and just walk. You will see so much more by going down small alleys, and getting lost then simply staying on the busy tourist routes.
