Versailles’ vast gardens are famed for their geometrically aligned ponds, canals and lakes. One of the most acclaimed aspects of the gardens is the 50 fountains which act as focal points, enhancing the overall geometrical design. Baroque sculptures of the gods, in marble and gilt, spout jets of water into the air from 620 nozzles.
From late spring to early autumn, the Versailles Fountains come to life as part of the evening Grandes Eaux water spectacles. Specially illuminated in glowing colors, the fountains are a spectacular sight, and music enhances your visit as you explore the garden’s secret places.
Bassin de Neptune is a focus for a display of choreographed fireworks, spectacularly reflected in the fountain’s expansive pool.

Doing what: Giverny and Versailles Small Group Day Trip from Paris
This was absolutely worth it. The guide was excellent (Stan) and Giverny turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. I highly recommend this trip and Versailles should not be missed.
