The concert was very enjoyable, with a talented orchestra, excellent opera singers, but rather ageing ballet dancers. The Orangery is a lovely setting, with a beautifully lit stage. Less positive comments: ticket collection details were poor - you actually collect tickets from the Orangery, which is near a pedestrian crossing and opposite the Schonbrunn exit from the underground station. There is nothing to tell you to exchange the Palace Tour voucher for tickets when you enter the Palace, so we walked miles and queued twice (but the state rooms were magnificent, though rather crowded.) The meal was in the Palace cafe, a brisk 6 minute walk from the concert. It was OK but a set menu, and beef consomme followed by boiled beef is not something I would normally choose! (Great apple strudel). Well worth doing, but plenty of scope for improvement.
Dinner was good; boiled beef (corn beef in Aussie terms), and vegetables was delicious. Schonbrunn Palace was done at our own pace (picked up the head-set) and wandered through the Palace. The concert was fantastic, albeit a little late for us, so we skipped out at half time. What we saw of the concert, we highly recommend. We also caught the train back to our motel (about 8 stops away) at 10.30pm and felt very safe. I must say the underground train system is clean, safe and extremely user friendly. I recommend purchasing a 3 day train pass.
The palace was wonderful and very interesting. Unfortunately, there just wasn't much time there and the Guide was not very informative. It seemed rushed because of the tioming of the entry and the bus pick up. City tour was OK.
A very enjoyable series of events. We took the palace tour, dinner and the concert. The staff were very helpful and our tickets were ready and waiting for us so all hassle free and good value.
We had a really enjoyable night. The music was really lively with some added surprised in between. Make sure you arrive an hour or so earlier so you can enjoy the Palace gardens. They are amazing. Great night.
The tour was very good. We were taken to some wonderful sights. The Schonbrunn Palace was a real highlight of the tour
The city tour portion was basically the Ring Road encircling Vienna. This traverses over the course of old city walls and along the Belvedere. Prater Park and the UN sites were not included...the tour was a good orientation to the City Center. Schonbrunn Palace was too short a visit (~75 minutes) to do justice to the grounds and zoo and there was no visit to the palace rooms.
The concert was spectacular. The directions to get there from Viator, however, were lacking. We followed what was on the printed voucher and ended up at the Palace, which was NOT where we were supposed to be. An additional comment like, " if you arrive after 6pm to pick up tickets, this location will be closed and you must go to the venue." The actual venue is not at the palace entrance!
I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the palace. Going in a tour means that you bypass the queuei. Which was 2 hours long. Make sure you give yourself the rest of the day at the palace and get the train back to town. They only give you about 40 minutes after the palace tour and you will need the rest of the day to see everything there
our trip to vienna was an unforgetable experience everywhere was clean and the schonbrunn evening was magical the concert was wonderfull my partner and i really enjoyed it the only critisim we had was the meal before hand it was not very hot and did not have much taste to it the apple strudel was delicious though i would recommend the tour to anyone travelling to vienna rita england.
Good tour, great and knowledgeable guide. A a good way to get your bearings. Schonbrunn Palace is a highlight but it was unfortunate that more time was not available to visit the gardens. Beginning of tour was not well handled as a number of "collection" buses were brought to the tour office area to reassign customers to their tours but instructions on which buses to move to were very vague at best. It was a Sunday so maybe the management A team was not there.
We really enjoyed the dinner and the concert. Better directions for ticket pickup would have helped as we walked right past the entrance. The concert is well worth attending and we had a fantastic time.
Good value for an extensive tour of the Palace, high quality 3 course meal and concert was most enjoyable
