Great !!! Guide was fantastic! Thanks for a very memorable experience!!
The Moonlight Night Tour by Trolly was really great! Our tour guide was interesting, knew a lot about the city, and added just the right amount of humor. I would definitely recommend this tour. It is a wonderful way to get to know our nations capital.
It was a pretty enjoyable tour, but we had to deal with a barrier at the windows where we sat on the trolley, which made it difficult to clearly see many of the sites. Since it was a chilly night, the trolley's plastic window coverings also prevented having a clear view of most of the sites. If we had to do it over, we likely would have booked a BUS tour rather than the trolley tour because of the "viewing barriers" already mentioned.
Our tour guide, Jason was excellent. He was very friendly, approachable and had a sense of humor which kept us all entertained from the very beginning right until he kindly dropped us off at our hotel after the tour. The stories he shared and the way he blended jokes with interesting facts and stories about different attractions was brilliant. At no part of the trip did I ever think we had wasted our money. We were even lucky enough to have an almost full moon rise over the Capitol building whilst we were at the Iwa Jima memorial.
As for any regrets, there are barely any. If I had a disappointment it was that we did not stop at the Jefferson Memorial. However, it is understandable that we cannot fit in all the attractions on the trip. One other thing would be that the plastic material used as windows doesn't allow for great photos to be taken due to the reflection. Some advice for future guests would be to find a seat near a joint in the plastic material so that you can fit your camera through to get the perfect shot.
Apart from that, I would like to thank Jason for a truly unforgettable experience. We were only in DC for 2 nights and debated at length whether the tour would be worth it - well, it was more than worth it! We would recommend your tour to anyone who asks!
All the way from South Africa!!
Very interesting! All the facts about D.C.!
The tour was outstanding. George (our guide) was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. Not boring at all! He gave as much or as little detail as we needed. He also let us get out and walk around certain monuments.
Overall, I can't imagine a better tour guide.
Loved the tour BUT was not terribly happy that we were scheduled for 7:00 and didn't leave until after 7:30. I think they combined the 7:00 and 7:30 tours. But the tour itself was great.
This was a really nice trip, but it is in a trolley and so we couldn't really see out the windows with the plastic down (because it was winter.) It would be better in vans or a small bus. However, the stops at the Lincoln, MLK were truly beautiful at night. I'm glad we went, but it should be in a regular bus.
I wish we would have gone by the White House and more federal buildings. Also the tour guide talked so fast we couldnt understand him. He did, however, drop us off at our bus/ hotel stop.
Tour guide was awesome, but the night tour itself was not worth the money in my opinion. Plastic on bus windows made it impossible to take good pictures so several passengers chose to roll up the plastic window covering leaving their window areas open to take pictures. Only problem was it was in the 20's outside so the other passengers were so cold that the whole tour was a huge disappointment.
Where to start? Upon booking with Viator I called the trolley company and asked about hotel pickup. They directed me to the Mayflower, telling me to wait in front at 650 pm for the 730 pm Moonlight tour shuttle. We went to the Mayflower. No shuttle. I called the trolley company and asked where's the shuttle. Then informed the pick up on side street of hotel. Duh! So we run over to side, only to see the shuttle pulling away. We gave chase and caught up, banged on side door - were ignored. Grrr!
Then catch cab to Union Station for trolley departure. Arrive 7:20 and $15 poorer. Show our Viator e-voucher to ticket man in front of bus. Oh, that's not a ticket. You have to go inside a station and show that to agent to get paper ticket. We go inside and stand in long line moving at snail's pace. One agent at desk - must be first day on job. Other gal is taking people's e-voucher info and transferring it to form on clipboard. We are given form and told to give to agent for paper ticket. What a joke. Everyone in line was laughing about how inane this process was. What is the purpose of the e-ticketing system? And barcode on our e-voucher? Never used. System is a mess!!
Finally got paper ticket. Went on trolley, which was overbooked and had people standing. For a 2-1/2 hour tour?!? Well, actually ending up being 2 hours, as we left 30 minutes late!
Never again. Though tour was nice, aggravation wasn't worth it.
What a great start to our first trip to Washington. The day was cold and windy, but the greeting from Rory was warm and welcoming. Marcus was an excellent driver and the addition of Danielle later in the trip only enhanced our experience. The Tour covered all that we had heard about Washington and gave us a taste for more. I have no hesitation in recommending this tour to all foreign visitors and American visitors alike.
As Rudyard Kipling said---" The First Condition of Understanding a foreign Country Is To smell It ". Thank you for a memorable experience.
Nice and easy to drive around the most important places of the city;i really like it!!
