My husband and I loved Lucerne! It was beautiful and the weather was great, it rained a little but remained clear for the most part. The drive to Lucerne was beautiful as well. Lucerne is truly a gem and a must see for all the visit Switzerland!
Beautiful tour simply because Lucerne is so lovely. We were combined with a Spanish group which was a bit disconcerting. However the guide managed it all.
One of the best tours I ever had, it is amazing and very nice tour, specially going on the top 2130 Meters with this nice 75 years old train, and lurcene was an amzaing cool city and the walk was enough for us to discover many things and to make nice shopping, highly recommended
It was an awesome trip! We a family of 5 adults all thoroughly enjoyed the entire trip. The drive down from Zurich to Lucerne was simply beautiful! I would surely recommend others to go for it. The duration of the trip is more than enough to experience everything en-route as well as in Lucerne. Stay at Zurich, and take such day tours to all the locations. One can enjoy the best of everything!
Being off the main roads and going through the countryside is an added bonus. The day in Lucerne was wonderful and the commentary was exceptional from our tour guide. The day was perfect and we leisurely saw the old town of Lucerne. If you come to Switzerland, this is one place that should be on your itinerary.
If we go back to Switzerland we want to stay in Lucerne. Amazing town, beautiful lake, great shops. I think this tour was probably an hour or 2 too long. We ended up sitting around waiting for the bus because the bus moves on to other places after it drops you off. The tour guide takes you to go see the Lion statue then you're on your own with the other tourists for an hour. After that hour the people who purchased the other tours move on and you stay in the city. Buy your chocolates, food, water etc. at COOP grocery store. I bought chocolate at this one tourist shop and paid 26 francs when I could have bought it for 18 at COOP. They have the same stuff all the tourist shops have but for less. Same in Zurich, go to COOP to buy all your items. Lucerne is a beautiful city with all the shops and cafes on the river. Totally worth the money.
Our trip was wonderful. Ernest was an excellent guide providing historical information along the way and answering all of our questions. The city of Lucerne is beautiful. The trip could be shortened by 2 hours.
Basically the trip just provide trasportation to and backfrom Zurich to Lucerne. Anyway Lucerne City is a nice and beautiful city.
Lucerne is a beautiful place to visit. My mom and I stayed behind to visit Lucerne for the whole day, while the rest of the tour group went to Mt. Rigi. We had a short introduction to Lucerne, was given a map and was free to enjoy all of Lucerne. It's a good idea to figure out what you want to do the entire time there so that you know how to spend your time well. We thought we'd be able to do the boat trip on the lake, but ran out of time just walking around. Make sure to put Lucerne on your list of places to visit while in Switzerland.
I decided to do the Lucerne City Tour because it would have been more expensive for me to just hop on a train from Zurich and go to the city for the day. The short city tour only includes you stopping at the dying Lion monument to take pictures. After that, you're dropped off in the city, given a map, and told when to return to the bus. Lucerne is a great city and it's worth a day trip, even without a guide telling you all about the history and such. If you're looking for some free time, definitely do this tour, but if you're looking for something with a tour guide all day, this isn't for you.
