Travel Features & Highlights

Carbon Neutral Activities

Viator is an advocate and resource for sustainable travel. Partnering with Carbonfund.org, Viator has been able to provide travelers with important resources in support of sustainable travel and carbon friendly lifestyle practices. Many of Viator's thousands of tours and activities around the world are carbon-neutral and a selection is outlined below.

BIKING
Viator's nearly 100 cycling tours in destinations around the world are a great way to help protect the environment and to truly experience the vibe of a destination.
  • The Half Day Cycling Tour of Barcelona with an entertaining native English speaking guide offers a different perspective of the city, some fun, and the chance to meet other travelers.
  • The Sydney Cycling Tour features the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbor Bridge, The Rocks, Darling Harbour, and more than 30 other important sights.
  • A quick trip on the train from Paris with bike in hand culminates in the Cycling Tour of Versailles with up-close access to Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon, the Grand Canal and the famous Chateau of Versailles.
  • The Half Day Berlin City Afternoon Cycling Tour packs two full days worth of independent sightseeing into a 4-hour, expertly guided experience including historical overviews and glimpses into the Berlin of today.
  • Other cities easily explored on two-wheels through Viator.com include Chicago, London, Maui, Montreal, Paris, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.

WALKING
Walking tours have always been very popular, and have always been environmentally friendly, creating no carbon footprint.
  • Venice Past and Present Walking Tour - St Mark's Square, Bridge of Sighs, Grand Canal and Rialto - discover extraordinary architecture, a labyrinth of narrow alleyways and the city's prevalent medieval flavor, as well as its environmentally-friendly prevalent absence of cars.
  • NYC's Original Rock 'n' Roll Walking Tour through the Lower East Side explores the roots of major musical movements - rock, punk and glam. (Hairspray used to create Mohawks may be single-handedly responsible for the hole in the ozone.)
  • The Madrid Tapas Evening Walking Tour gives travelers an introduction to the real Madrileno lifestyle accompanied by traditional Spanish food and drink.
  • Viator offers "green" walking tours in more than 70 destinations, including favorites like Amsterdam, Florence, New Orleans, Prague, San Francisco and Tokyo.

PADDLING
Eliminate your footprint altogether (literally) and put the arms to use by grabbing a paddle and taking to the water.
  • The 3 Bay Cruzade from Los Cabos is a combination kayak and snorkel adventure that discovers the magnificence of secluded bays in Mexico.
  • The Canoe Cave Explorer Tour at Phang Nga Bay, Phuket, Thailand, guides travelers through the famous Phang Nga Bay and up close to sea caves and open-air cliff-lined cylindrical tidal lagoons.
  • Australia's Half Day Double Island Sea Kayaking Tour of Palm Cove Beach includes snorkeling and spotting local wildlife like dolphins, turtles and manta rays.
  • The Cayman Islands, Mission Bay in San Diego and Lake Mead in Las Vegas offer more opportunities to take to the water.
