Viator Gives Travelers First-hand Video Previews and Opens Facebook Voting in the $10,000 Dream Travel Job Contest

(Nov. 14, 2012)—Viator.com—the leading resource for researching and booking the best tours and activities worldwide—has launched an exclusive collection of dynamic videos aimed at providing travelers with insider access to the world’s most popular tours and attractions, before they travel.

Online videos are becoming a popular planning tool for travelers, confirmed by a recent Google study* which found that 89% of leisure travelers watch online videos, with 62% noting they watch them “when looking for ideas of activities to do at a destination.” The new video library, with more than 65 original short films currently live across Viator’s web and mobile channels with nearly 300 slated for release in the months ahead, complements Viator’s 350,000 traveler reviews and photos, and expert commentary on more than 4,000 global attractions.

The Viator Dream Travel Job Contest
To bring a special flavor and flare to the project, Viator launched the Dream Travel Job Contest in the spring, giving all travel enthusiasts and lovers of video the opportunity to enter to win, and document, the trip of a lifetime. The first phase of the contest, judged by a panel of travel and film experts including two-time, MTV Video of the Year award-winning executive producer Jeff Clark, gave four talented and travel-savvy semi-finalists the opportunity to travel in teams of two, to shoot in 40-plus destinations across Europe and the U.S. respectively. The resulting videos were expertly filmed, hosted and edited, and provide travelers with an exclusive glimpse into some of Viator’s most popular activities including activities in Rome like touring the Vatican, Las Vegas experiences including soaring over and landing in the Grand Canyon via helicopter and visiting Amsterdam’s infamous Red Light District.

Through November 28, fans of Viator’s Facebook page (ViatorTours) can cast their ballot for the team they’d like to see claim the $10,000 grand prize. Team Europe, Ryan Van Duzer and Asha Mevlana, and Team North America, Juliana Broste and Brock Groombridge have both created unique wrap-up videos chronicling their adventures, each posted to Viator’s Facebook page for viewing and voting.
