San Francisco, March 9, 2005: Sightseeing and activity specialist Viator has launched a range of sightseeing tours and activities in Japan, with initial focus on Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima and Kyoto. The selection includes half-day and full-day sightseeing tours, along with Shinkansen ("bullet-train") tours.
Viator CEO Rod Cuthbert said "We think Japan is one of those markets where English-speaking travelers are really looking for the chance to research and book their sightseeing and activities in advance. Japan can be a daunting place for many visitors and the knowledge that they don't have to stress-out making reservations when they arrive will be a relief to many of them." Over seven million overseas travellers are expected to visit Japan during 2005.
Cuthbert said the tour range represented the very best sightseeing and organized tours available in the Japanese market. "Our partner, JTB's Sunrise Tours division, is a clear leader in English-language tours and their range of offerings is superb. There's a clear bias towards educating visitors about the culture and history of Japan, and that's exactly what our customers are looking for. Beside the focus of the tours, Sunrise has such high service standards that travelers can't fail to be impressed with the knowledge of their tour guides, the quality of their vehicles, and their attention to detail." he said.
JTB Corp. is Japan's largest travel company. Founded in 1912, it has offices worldwide and annual revenues in excess of US$13 billion. More information about JTB may be at their web site, www.jtb.co.jp/eng/.
