Viator's Travel Experts
We Love to Travel
Meet Viator's Team of Travel Experts
Viator's staff are passionate travelers: collectively we've traveled to more than 160 countries. (The exceptions? North Korea, Libya, Liberia, Sudan, you get the idea.) When we're not busy talking about our last trip, we're busy planning our next adventure. So meet some of the travel-obsessed people behind the scenes here at Viator. Who knows, maybe you'll run into one of us on your next trip...
Scott McNeely
Scott McNeely is the director of Viator's online efforts. Over the years Scott has traveled by camel, rickshaw, elephant, ox cart, yak, and 4th-class train in 45+ countries; and has written more than a dozen travel guidebooks. Scott's favorite city? Istanbul. Scott's favorite thing to do on Viator.com? Skydiving tied with shark diving.
Joanne Barone
Joanne is the Travel Manager for Australia, the Pacific and Asia. Traveling for more than 13 years, Joanne's travel advice is to: "Hang with the locals. It makes traveling a completely different experience because you are able to discover the hidden gems of a destination - places that even guidebooks don't know about!"
Kelly Gillease
Kelly is Viator's Marketing Director and contemplates all things marketing at Viator. Always up for a new experience, Kelly learned in the past year that Yosemite's Sentinel Dome is way easier to hike than Half Dome and is nearly as pretty, India is really really hot in July (really!), and the best lobster roll can be had at Captain Frosty's in Cape Cod. Her key piece of travel wisdom? "Only suckers check bags."
Jeff Lewis
Jeff is in charge of all things technical at Viator. His favorite place that he has traveled so far is Malaysia (this photo was taken on the cable car in Langkawi, Malaysia) - great food, lots to explore, easy to get around, cheap & relaxing. After ticking off Hawaii recently, top on Jeff's travel wishlist is Italy. Jeff's secret travel tip: Don't go to Hong Kong during Chinese New Years, everything is boarded up!
Jenny Crossling
Jenny is the Travel Manager for the USA. When traveling anywhere, Jenny recommends two things: "First, don't sweat the small stuff. Even the best laid plans will go awry, so spend your vacation enjoying all the things that go right! Second, make sure you experience your vacation. Take in the different cultures, landscapes, people, food and you'll have loads of stories to tell."
Carmen Maver
The Travel Coordinator for Australia, the Pacific and Asia, Carmen's funniest traveling story involves fun with different languages: "Traveling with my friend Nikki in Egypt and not realizing that 'nikki' is a slang word for sex in Arabic. Let's just say, calling out to her from one of the upper floors in the Cairo Museum caused quite a lot of attention."
Kerrie O'Mahony
Kerrie is the USA Travel Coordinator and is proud to be a tourist in a sea of travelers! She loves to travel because not only does it open her eyes to the rest of the world and allow her to experience things she never could at home in Australia, she is also able to support an industry she loves and provide tourist dollars to the places she visits.
Ken Frohling
Ken manages Viator's business partners in the Americas, but bristles at being called the 'sales guy'. An avid - but hopelessly intermediate - skier, Ken just returned from a week's skiing in New Zealand; he's ready to go back at a moment's notice. Ken's top travel tip: 'Learn how to say hello and good morning in every language where you are going. That and a smile can open up a lot doors'. His second piece of advice? 'No white tennis shoes!'
Tamie Walsh
Tamie, Travel Coordinator for Europe, loves to travel and see places that are different from home, which is, of course, the whole point of traveling! India is at the top of her list of places to visit, as she is fascinated by Indian culture, history and food. Tamie's best travel tip? "Pack everything you want to take with you and then only take half of it!"
Sue Warnke
For Sue, Viator's Travel Manager for Central & South America, Mexico, the Caribbean, the ultimate reason to travel is to gain new experiences. Born and raised in the U.S., Sue recently joined our Las Vegas office after living in Jamaica for 6 years. Her travels have carried her across 4 continents and she strives to perfect the art of being a traveler, not a tourist.
Christine Cramer
Christine manages the Viator website. She enjoys staying active, both at home and in her travels - bike tours, kayaking, walking tours. Having covered a lot of ground in the USA and Europe, next up is Australia. Daintree and Cape Tribulation and snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef are top on her travel wishlist.
John Gibbs
John is our Director of Client Services, working with our major distribution partners. He has had the travel 'bug' since a teenager and attributes his early love for travel to his Aunt, who worked for an airline. When not at work or traveling to somewhere fun, John enjoys hiking -- check out his blog at www.weekendhike.com.
Cristina De Oliveira
Cristina is the travel coordinator for North and South America. What she enjoys most about traveling is meeting the locals and sampling their way of life. Cristina's hot travel tip, "Travel with respect and you will gain so much more."
