Unspoiled and unhurried, the island of Kauai is filled with lush rainforests, majestic mountains, velvet-green valleys, towering waterfalls and swaying palm trees lining its sun-kissed white sand beaches. With so much greenery, it?s no wonder this tropical island paradise is dubbed The Garden Isle.

Ninety miles across the Pacific Ocean from Oahu, Kauai is a mecca for active visitors. Rainforest trails and ocean cliffs invite hikers, bikers and zip-liners, while sea caves and warm tropical waters provide water sports and adventures galore. But it?s also a place to unwind and relax. You?ll find plenty of quiet spots in the rainforest to meditate and miles of beaches to absorb the sunshine. At night, watch the sun sink into the Pacific or feast and dance at a lively luau. It?s all about indulging your passions and pleasure on Kauai.

Best of Kaui: Suggested Itineraries

A little more laid back than Oahu and more rugged than Maui, Kauai is an adventure seeker's dream. Snorkel and kayak along the rugged Na Pali Coast, bike and hike amid the lush grandeur of Waimea Canyon, or see Kauai on an adventure tour from the air while soaring on a zipline or from an airplane. Or maybe just unwind on a beach, a dinner cruise or a lively luau. Our three-day suggested itinerary will help you make the most of your time on this tropical wonderland.

Day 1: Hule'ia Waterfalls, Waimea Canyon & Mount Waialeale by Air

Get an early start for a morning of kayaking and hiking through Hule'ia National Wildlife Refuge. With the magnificent Haupu Mountain Range as your backdrop, you'll paddle and hike to a series of 3 pool-drop waterfalls with a swimming hole known as Hidden Falls. In the afternoon, take in the breathtaking scenery of Kauai on an air tour. You'll see Waimea Canyon (famously dubbed "the Grand Canyon of the Pacific" by Mark Twain), remote waterfalls, and the rain-soaked alien landscape of Waialeale Crater, which is officially one of the wettest spots on earth. Round off your evening with some kalua pork, lau lau and poi at a Hawaiian Luau.

Day 2: Forbidden Island Snorkeling & Sunset Cruise

Take to the water on a day trip to the mysterious Forbidden Island, Ni'ihau, for some of the best snorkeling in Hawaii. You'll travel in comfort about at 65 foot (20 meter) motor-powered catamaran, enjoying a continental breakfast while heading north-west along the majestic Napali coast in search of waterfalls, lush valleys and sea caves. Once your reach Ni'ihau, you'll float and watch the comings and goings of the magical aquatic world. Carved by ocean currents and waves for centuries, no other place in Hawaii offers such unique formations. End your day with Hawaiian sunset dinner cruise, where you can relax with a Mai Tai, enjoy a delicious feast, and watch a spectacular sunset in paradise.

Day 3: Zipping through the Jungle & Surfing Hanalei Bay

Begin your day with the ultimate Kauai adventure: soaring like a bird through the jungle on a zipline tour. You'll see breathtaking valleys and streams in the pristine, private grounds of the lush Kalihiwai area. You'll take a short walk through the treetops and over a waterfall on a suspension bridge, at the end of which lies an idyllic deep waterfall swimming pool. Here lunch is served while you swim, jump or just float around on inner tubes. Afterward, head to Hanalei Bay for a surf lesson.
