I love to live in tourist traps. Orlando, and now Las Vegas - I continually move to places with huge amounts of activity and things to do. I love getting out and about, and I think it's fun to do the tourist trap stuff! But I also like to find the little out of the way places that often go missed.

ATV Off-Road Desert Adventure
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: Landon and Shane were our guides, and I absolutely LOVED those guys. They were funny, nice, knowledgeable, and patient! Everything you could want in guides. The ATV tour was incredible (and I was REALLY sore afterwards – but it was so worth it!) and then the drive through the Valley of Fire was perfect afterwards. After the ATV tour, we had a really nice, and VERY welcome lunch – right when I was starting to get hungry. The shade of the picnic lunch was a welcome break from the sun, but you could still enjoy the outdoors. They’d just finished putting up a Zipline at the location where you do the ATVing for this tour, and they asked if anyone wanted to do it – of course, my family (thrill seekers as we are) leapt at the opportunity. We’re glad we did! They were only charging $15 per person, and it was WAY fun. The van had nice cold Air Conditioning, and there was bottled water inside. It was a wonderful rest after such an adrenaline filled morning. I loved the petroglyphs (there’s a picture of them in the photos) and we even saw a Big Horn Sheep! I have absolutely no complaints. Even for what I was expecting this tour to be (and I expected a lot) this tour was so much more. Don’t miss it when you come to Vegas!

V: The Ultimate Variety Show at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: I wasn’t expecting to like this show as much as I did! Coming in as a dyed in the wool Cirque fan, I can say this show is more fun, and equally talented! My favorite act was the Roller Skating couple at the end! They were fantastic! Great way to spend a night. Totally check it out.

The Original London Sightseeing Tour: Hop-on Hop-off
Tour / Activity
Location: London, United Kingdom
My Review: What an awesome way to see the city! We used the double decker tour to get the lay of the city before wandering around on our own to see the sites we wanted to see. We sat on the lower floor because it was kind of cold outside and we wanted to sit somewhere warm! We had a lovely seat with a little table we could put our coats and cameras and stuff on, and we could hear the guide just fine, and see the sites just fine! There's a lot of freedom with this tour! It's a great way to see the city, but not be beholden to a guided tour!

London Eye: Champagne Experience
Tour / Activity
Location: London, United Kingdom
My Review: My Boyfriend and I were looking for wonderful and romantic experiences during our trip together. We were not disappointed in the London Eye Champagne Experience! We happened to be in our capsule with only one other couple (a very sweet older couple who were also celebrating just being together!) and we really loved the quiet, relaxed, and romantic atmosphere that being in a more private capsule gave us. The gentleman who served our champagne was knowledgeable and very professional, and the champagne was wonderful! The London Eye is a GREAT experience! And if you're going to go - you might as well do it right! Get the Champagne Experience!

London Pass
Tour / Activity
Location: London, United Kingdom
My Review: We loved this pass! It had pretty much everything we wanted to see, and the Travel Card makes getting around super convenient. We didn't end up getting the package with the Travel Card - and because of that we ended up buying the Travel Card from the Tube anyway - so my one bit of advice for travelers would be to go ahead and get the Pass with the Travel Card - you won't regret it! An All Day Travel Card from the Tube is a little more expensive than what you'd pay here if you got the Travel Card through the site. Get up early, and start hitting the sites! The best way to take advantage of these cards is to do a lot in one day with them! The little booklet they give you for this pass does have suggestions on where to go and what to see to take advantage of the pass, just in case you're undecided on what to do!

Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath Day Trip from London
Tour / Activity
Location: London, United Kingdom
My Review: Edward was our Tour Guide - and he was FANTASTIC! Super knowledgeable, and he spoke a ton of languages fluently. This is a man who loves his job, and is EXCELLENT at it! I've heard of tours where multiple languages are done, and I have to say - Edward was so fluid with changing from language to language that you never felt like you were missing anything, and it was just completely impressive. He walked us around at each of the sites, and gave us some time to sightsee on our own. It was a perfect mix of a day. I can't say enough about what a good time this tour was, or how well it was conducted. All three of the sites are absolutely worth seeing - and should NOT be missed! Even my Boyfriend, who is usually not into "tourist stuff" had a wonderful time. This was a great trip! Thank you so much, Edward!

London Thames River Dinner Cruise
Tour / Activity
Location: London, United Kingdom
My Review: Of all of the tours I was looking forward to when I went to London - this is the one that I was looking forward to the MOST. It was even better than I hoped it would be. It's romantic, and formal, and the food was beyond excellent. The Jazz music created a perfect atmosphere, the scenery was beyond compare. I'm a Vegetarian - which means that food can be challenging in a formal setting, but the Vegetarian options offered on this cruise were divine. Every single moment of this cruise was breathtaking, and perfect. I even bought the picture taken by the professional photographer! I'll remember this cruise forever. If you go - be prepared to dress up, and feel like royalty!

Haunted Vegas Tour and Show
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: I loved this tour. Our tour guide was this amazing man who's a certified Undertaker. He was wearing a totally amazing "Haunted Mansion" style outfit, it was great. He was funny, morbid, interesting - everything you could ask for in a Haunted Tour Guide. Bring a camera! You do want to try and catch ghosts on film! There's a bit of walking, but not too much. I was almost surprised when the tour was over, the time went by so fast. It felt like it'd only been like a half an hour, and suddenly three hours had gone by. Don't miss this tour! Especially around Halloween. :D

The Beatles™ LOVE™ by Cirque du Soleil® at the Mirage Hotel and Casino
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: This is the most joyful show I’ve ever seen. It really leaves you with a spring in your step after the show is over. The music is great (duh, right? Beatles) and during the show, they air these sound clips from the recording sessions between the guys. It really gives you a great sense of what they were like together. And I think their music really comes alive in the acrobatics. It’s for sure one of the best shows in Las Vegas.

Red Rock Canyon Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: I’ve hiked in Red Rock probably a dozen times before, and our guide STILL showed me places I’d never seen. Everything about this tour was great! Our guide was very informative. The tour was relaxing and interesting, the bus was very comfortable, and had we not been with a tour group, we never would have been allowed to walk through the back rooms of the Spring Mountain Ranch – which really should not be missed. I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone! This is a great tour to get a chance to see the desert, and the beautiful rock formations, while still being able to catch a show at night. It’s a perfect daytime escape from the city!

Las Vegas Mob Experience
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: This is a fun and interactive experience! I loved all the actors, and the different sets were fantastic. Everything was really well done, and it took a little longer than I thought it would (which was nice!) The Museum is really interesting, and full of beautiful things! Our group spent a long time in the Museum looking through the interactive displays or trying to find information about our Mobsters (you get a badge with the name of a specific Mobster on it. Your “Mob Name” for the whole tour.) The Museum also comes at a great point in the tour, since I wore brand new high heels – and needed a place to sit down! The other great thing about this tour is that the casino it’s in (The Tropicana) is completely new on the interior. They’ve redone every little thing in there, and it all looks fantastic. We caught a drink at one of the bars in the Casino after the Experience was over, which just made for a perfect night.

Hidden Valley and Primm Extreme ATV or RZR Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: I would give this tour ten stars if I could. I was driving a RZR 800, which is an AMAZING vehicle! I’m a novice driver when it comes to ATVs and Off Roading in general, so being in an Off Road vehicle that handles like a car is great! You get the secure feeling of being in a car, with all the open air, and rush of driving an ATV. The weather in the mountains was divine, especially for the Mojave Desert in June. I didn’t get horribly hot, and even then, we had the wind rushing by while driving. There was also this wonderful smell out in the mountains, I think it was Rosemary… Rick and Alisa were our guides, they’re both friendly and wonderful people! Rick’s a professional racer, and he took each of our group out in turn on the Racing RZR 900. He’s one of the most amazing drivers I’ve ever had the pleasure of riding with. Even though he’s going *really* fast in the 900, and showing you what he (and the RZR) are capable of - you feel absolutely safe while he’s driving – he’s just got such an amazing level of control over the RZR, it’s unbelievable. I can’t say enough nice things about this tour. The scenery, the driving, the excitement, the weather, the guides, the RZRs, the itinerary for the trip – everything was perfect. When I was starting to get hungry, it was time to eat. They gave us water, so I never felt dry. They gave us plenty of time to play in the RZRs before we took them out, so we could get comfortable operating the RZR. It’s just a REALLY well done tour. If I could go again tomorrow, I totally would! Don’t miss out!

Blue Man Group at the Venetian Las Vegas
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: I was expecting to enjoy the music, but I wasn’t expecting to laugh as hard as I did! This was a great show with very cerebral humor, and a lot of fun elements! It’s kind of science meets entertainment meets whimsy in an awesome collection of fun skits and unique props. I totally recommend it!!

Zumanity™ by Cirque du Soleil® at New York New York Hotel and Casino
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: I absolutely loved this show! I know a lot of people are scared to see it, because it does get very polarized reviews. If you are going to see this show - just be aware that it is far more enjoyable if you remain open minded, and unapologetic. It’s VERY sensual, and does not pull punches. We did see it from the Balcony, which is the only thing I regretted - if (when!) I go to see it again, I definitely want to sit on the floor level!

Las Vegas Night Tour of the Strip by Luxury Limousine Bus
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: Annette made this night wonderful! It was fun as a Vegas Native to pretend to be a Tourist for a night, and if you are visiting Vegas – you’ll have a great time on this tour! The price is unbeatable! It included a drink at the restaurant we stopped at, a drink on the bus, and of course, several hours of painting the town red! Annette even gave us a great idea of a delicious little pizza place to eat at in Fremont Street when we all mentioned that we were getting hungry! THIS IS A MUST DO!

California Academy of Sciences NightLife
Tour / Activity
Location: San Francisco, California
My Review: I’m a huge Science Nerd, so I expected to love the California Academy of Sciences, but really – only California can make an Academy of Sciences so *Cool*. There was a DJ, and a live Band, and I took the VIP + Cocktails Tour, which meant open bar privileges. Trust me - you want the VIP Pass – even if you don’t drink. The ability to skip the lines into the 4 story Rainforest, and the Planetarium are well worth it. Not to mention that you get to see this beautiful climate controlled gem room, and go behind the closed doors to talk to the Scientists who are working while Nightlife is going on. There were many jealous looks as my friend and I bypassed what had to be an hour long line to get preferred seating in the Planetarium! We went on the third Thursday of the month, which we were told was a special night in the Planetarium. Every third Thursday, the California Academy of Sciences does a review of the new Astronomy finds that week in Science. It was excellent to see something that wasn’t the standard walk-thru of the planets and solar system. The MC for the Planetarium talked about all sorts of interesting things, like the effect of the Solar Winds on the Magnetic field of Earth, and how we would appear to Aliens, if they happened to see our transmissions. It was all really great, and we caught the last show, which meant it was kind of the final thing we did that night. It turned out to be the perfect ending to a really great night.

San Francisco Hop-on Hop-off Ticket and Alcatraz Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: San Francisco, California
My Review: Ron was my driver when I took the full loop on the Hop-on Hop-off Tour. He was really entertaining to listen to, and he had a lot of great information on the various sites around the city. The bus is really convenient, and the stops are well chosen. When I went, it was raining, so this was a great way to see the sites of the city, and try to stay dry. I was also really happy that Ron mentioned the Chinese New Year parade that was happening while I was in town, otherwise I never would have heard about it. But because of his wonderful information, I got to go see the 2 hour parade, which was really one of the highlights of my trip! For the other half of this combo package - I had heard a lot about Alcatraz, and was really anticipating seeing The Rock, but even with all that anticipation, Alcatraz exceeded my expectations. The Audio Tour on the island is really well done, from the people they chose to narrate the tour, to the sound effects (in stereo) and what they chose to highlight while on the tour. I actually think it was better than being on a tour with a guide, because I could take the Audio Tour at my pace, and it kept this very reverent silence inside The Rock that sort of added to the ambiance. Book Alcatraz Early! A lot of people I met in San Francisco told me that they’d never been, or that they tried to get tickets and the tickets were already sold out! You’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t get to go to Alcatraz!

San Francisco Champagne Brunch Cruise
Tour / Activity
Location: San Francisco, California
My Review: There is no way to leave this cruise hungry. My glass was never more than half empty, and the buffet was always full. The food was fantastic, and they had a great variety of items that would accommodate people of any dietary requirement, weather you’re vegetarian, glucose free, or just love to eat anything that tastes great. The champagne was always flowing, the coffee had a wonderful flavor, and the atmosphere was wonderful and relaxing. We had a lovely woman piano player on our cruise. She had a lovely choice, and good taste in the music to choose to keep the mood. Everything was just great, and relaxing, and perfect. I really had a wonderful time. The Piano Player did a wonderful job of pointing out the sights as we were sailing past, and of letting people know when they’d want to go on deck to see something – like passing under the Golden Gate Bridge, or as we were sailing really close past Alcatraz Island. It’s like getting a guided tour along with the great food, and great atmosphere. The seating for the cruise was also organized really well. Since I was on my own, I was seated with other adults, and a bit away from the families. I think it really made for the best possible experience for everyone. The couples were mostly seated together for a nice romantic experience, and the families were seated together, for a more family oriented experience with the kids. That was a really good idea, and one I wasn’t expecting.

KÀ™ by Cirque du Soleil® at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: I don’t even know where to begin. Yeah, see this show. It’s the only Cirque show that has a real story to follow, so expect an interesting story that’s told through the stunning acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil. The stage is part of the act, as it moves and shifts throughout the entire show. It’s really enjoyable, and the theater is a beautiful and immersive environment. It’s a very Elegant Cirque du Soleil, and makes for a great end to a night in Vegas!

CSI: The Experience
Tour / Activity
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
My Review: I had a great time at the CSI Exhibit. It's a lot more educational and free form than I expected. I went with a couple of friends and wasn't quite sure what to expect. There are three different cases you can choose to investigate. We all settled on one (the dead waitress in the alley) but since the only thing that links you to the scenario you pick is a crime scene investigation sheet they give you there's no reason you can't experience all three. The "crime scenes" are really cool and well detailed. I'm not a fan of the show, but the getting a good look at the actual forensics that goes into solving a crime is pretty keen. I'd recommend it for families with picky tweens since it's totally at your own pace, educational (but in not in a lame way), and definitely different than anything else you're going find.

Historic Route 66
Attraction
Location: Sedona & Flagstaff
My Review: This had to have been one of the most fun times of my life. My best friend and I drove across country to move from Florida to Las Vegas, and we ended up taking a long run over Route 66. I have one piece of advice for anyone who wants to make this drive: CHECK THE WEATHER! My friend and I made the mistake of thinking that the weather would be warm cause we'd be in the desert. When we woke up in Flagstaff and it was 19 degrees, we were both just a bit under dressed... If you do make this drive, stop at the Roadkill Cafe for us! It was closed when we got there!

Fremont Street Experience
Attraction
Location: Las Vegas
My Review: Keep an eye out for the Spray Paint Artists (They're REALLY cool!) And there's a great restaurant that used to be called the Bay City Diner in the Golden Gate Casino on Freemont - I believe they're called Du-Par now. They have the really awesome Shrimp Cocktails there, and at the Shrimp Bar and Deli. One cool thing about Du-Par, if you go between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, they have some specials that you can buy at the price of the time that you show up. So for instance, if you show at 4:15 PM, then the cost of your special is $4.15. And the food is really good! If you're going to Freemont though, it's not as beautiful during the day time. It sort of loses it's majesty without the cover of night.

Red Rock Canyon
Attraction
Location: Las Vegas
My Review: I live just outside of Red Rock and tend to go out there just to get in touch with nature. It's Gorgeous out there, no matter where you go. I especially recommend seeing it with the snow on the mountains, if you happen to be here in the winter time.

Venetian Gondola Rides
Attraction
Location: Las Vegas
My Review: The Singers for the Venetian Gondola Rides are absolutely wonderful! And the woman who sang for us had one of the best sense of humor. I highly recommend this! Go all out though, get your own private boat! You won't be disappointed, and it's very relaxing.

Epcot Center
Attraction
Location: Orlando
My Review: EPCOT is by far my favorite Disney Theme park. If you're going to go - try to make it out there in October/November. They have a yearly food and wine festival which is to die for! The new Mission: Space ride is probably the best ride in Orlando too. Plan to be there the whole day - as you could spend a whole day just wandering around in the World Showcase. If you get a chance - stop for coffee in Morocco - it's to die for!

Universal's Islands of Adventure
Attraction
Location: Orlando
My Review: I lived in Orlando for ten years, and had a year pass to Universal Studios / Island of Adventure for upwards of 6 years. The only reason I let it lapse is because I moved across country. I absolutely love Universal and IOA - and I can't wait to go back and see Harry Potter now that they've opened the new Island there. Roller Coasters, good beer, good times, lots of laughs, the employees are generally relaxed and very funny - they poke fun at the customers (all in good humor) and present a really nice atmosphere for hanging out. I can't say enough nice things about all of my memories in Universal and IOA. If you're young at heart, and looking for more of a day of thrills and fun - then you won't be disappointed. And BTW - don't miss the Beetlejuice show! It's campy - but totally fun, and the singers / dancers are REALLY good!
