Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo
Tokyo, Japan
My Rating

The trip was very well organized. Our guide, Tadashi, was awesome, although his English (as with most Japanese tour guides) left a lot to be desired. The best part of the visit was lake Ashi, but going to the 5th stage (1/3) of Mt. Fuji was such a treat! The Shinkansen (Bullet Train) ride back was very short and just ok. Overall, I'd recommend this day trip if you don't have the inclination to put together a rather complicated train schedule and save a few bucks yourself. I think it was well worth the money I paid.

Panoramic Tokyo Day Tour - Meiji Shrine, Asakusa Temple and Tokyo Bay Cruise
Tokyo, Japan

This tour was just ok. Our tour guide was not very personable and her English left a lot to be desired. The tour focused on a couple of Shinto and Buddhist temples, where we spent most of the time, but neither one was worth the time we spent. If you can visit the Buddhinst temple on your own (i.e., by subway) and skip the Shinto shrine, do that. I wish we would had spent our time to visit other interesting areas of Tokyo with more detail. The bay cruise was also adequate, but time at the Aqua City terminal was also extremely limited. Lunch was good tough. All in all, you're probably better off looking for a more comprehensive tour of Tokyo that includes a short boat ride--and perhaps a Japanese-style lunch. This tour tends to rush you a lot without having enough time to absorb the beauty of the city.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima Island Tour from Hiroshima
Hiroshima, Japan
My Rating

This tour was awesome!!! Our guide, Marika, did a wonderful job guiding it! Considering that it was just me and another Australian couple that went along, the tour became more of a personal tour than anything else. That being said, Marika took the time to show us a great part of Miyajima Island, its shrine, and some of its traditions. We were lucky enough to witness a traditional Japanese wedding while at the shrine! The visit to the Peace Memorial Park was also great, although I wish we'd had more time to spend at the museum--which was fascinating--instead of the park. The reason I'm not giving this tour 5 stars is because we had to rely on public transportation instead of having our own--from Viator. However, given the choice between using public transportation and having to cancel the tour due to low enrollment, I choose the former, of course. In addition, the time we spent at the Peace Memorial Museum was extremely limited because we arrived almost at closing time. All in all, however, I highly recommend this tour for those of you who want to learn a bit more about the Japanese culture--and a whole lot more about the aftermath of the atomic bomb.
