Paris City Segway Tour

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review
You HAVE to do this tour! It combined all the best parts of a Paris walking tour without the walking! The Segways are easy to learn and so much fun to ride. People do turn and watch as you navigate the streets and bridges of Paris. Some people even took our pictures! Our guide was a U.S. native who has been living in Paris for a few years. His English was clear, and his knowledge of Paris history was outstanding. He took extreme care in making sure everyone was comfortable on the Segways before heading out, and then continued to keep track of everyone while crossing the streets and navigating crowds. We stopped often for pictures and mini-history lessons. He was most agreeable to taking pictures of us with our cameras. If you're worried about falling off the Segway, it doesnt happen a lot. That being said, I fell off once, but it was my own fault. I was leaning to reach for something and at the same time, I lifted one foot off the machine, unbalancing it. Our guide was right there to help and it really was more embarrassing than anything else! The only downside to the entire tour was right at the beginning. We met our guides at the base of the Eiffel Tower, and then we followed them on foot to their office where the Segways were stored and all the paperwork was completed. Their office is about 6 blocks from the Eiffel Tower and if we had known, it would have been closer to walk from our hotel to their office than to the Eiffel Tower and back. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime tour. This is very highly recommended. Bring your camera!

Paris Shopping Tour: Discount Couture

Paris, France

My Review
My 14-year-old daughter and I took this tour and absolutely loved it! She had saved up for 2 years to buy a Louis Vuitton purse in Paris. We thought this tour would be a good way to save on couture handbags instead of shopping on the Champ de Lysee. Our guide met us at a coffee shop in the Marais fashion district. She spoke perfect English and French and was very friendly and professional. She had an excellent knowledge of the shops in the area and of the upcoming trends in fashion. Since we were the only 2 people on the tour that day, our guide asked my daughter what she was shopping for and then tailored the tour to visit the shops most likely to carry Louis Vuitton purses. There are no guarantees of what you'll find on this walking tour, that's why you can find such great deals. Most items are new or come from the catwalks, photo shoots or are trial runs or last year's styles. Others are resale items, but we were told if they were. She escorted us to shops that are hard to find and unique. She greeted the shopkeepers warmly and explained to them in French what we were seeking and then translated their replies into English for us. By the end of the tour, we did find one Louis Vuitton purse; it was a resale item, but my daughter wasn't crazy about the style. However, she was thrilled to buy two new Chanel bags. We also found great clothes and accessories along the way. A perfect shopping day in Paris!

Oxford, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

My Review
This was a great tour. We saw some of the nicest highlights of the English countryside and took wonderful pictures. The time at each stop was just enough to get a good feel for the location before moving on. Lunch was typical English pub fare and, although the menu choices were different than my daughter was expecting, a simple note on the pre-order sheet that the tour guide passed through the motor coach en route ensured an acceptable lunch item for her. My only regret is that we only got to visit William Shakespeare's birthplace and a few shops in Stratford. I would have liked an additional stop or two in Stratford to see the church where he's buried as well as a visit to Anne Hathaway's cottage. Our final location of the day was Oxford, and the guide was very knowledgeable about the town and the colleges. Unfortunately, at our stop in Oxford, my husband became ill and could not take the walking tour part of the visit as there was a lot of walking. The motor coach driver was very attentive and took good care of my husband, even offering him a cup of tea to help soothe his upset stomach. It was a very nice day with a caring and concerned guide and driver. Highly recommended for a nice day out.
