Sharm el Sheikh Airport Private Arrival Transfer
Tour / Activity
Location: Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt
My Review: It was only 15 minutes to the hotel, so we should have taken a cab. On the other hand, it was nice to be met at the airport by friendly people. Unfortunately, they dropped us at the Melia Sinai rather than the Melia Sharm. Big mistake for a simple job. Fortunately the hotels are close to each other so we could drag our luggage up the hill.

Private Tour: Giza Pyramids and Sphinx
Tour / Activity
Location: Cairo, Egypt
My Review: The driver and guide were good. The pyramids and Sphinx are impressive, but not worth more than a couple of hours' visit. The tour includes an optional visit to an essence merchant nearby. We had mixed feelings about these optional tours. The crafts are interesting, and you don't have to buy anything, but saying "no" all the time in Egypt gets tiring.

Private Tour: Alabaster Mosque, Sultan Hassan, Khan el-Khalili
Tour / Activity
Location: Cairo, Egypt
My Review: The mosque is impressive, but we didn't consider this tour good value. The visit was very short. If it was supposed to have been combined with something else, we didn't see it.

Avila and Segovia Day Trip from Madrid
Tour / Activity
Location: Madrid, Spain
My Review: We were in Madrid and Barcelona for about 9 days, and this was a great way to get out to two of the smaller cities. The guide, Sophia, was one of the best we've ever had - and we have traveled a lot. An amazing fount of knowledge that made the experience memorable. The other tour we took to Toledo was more typical as to the quality of the guide. Adequate, but not that engaged. Avila and Segovia are lovely cities in a harsh landscape with some very interesting history. The highlights of Avila were the city walls and the chapel of St. Theresa. A good guide is needed to appreciate them. Alcazar in Segovia is in an amazing setting. It's a great way to spend a day outside the big cities.

Toledo Half-Day or Full-Day Trip from Madrid
Tour / Activity
Location: Madrid, Spain
My Review: Toleda is a beautiful city on a hill outside of Madrid. It is easy to get there by train and going on a tour isn't really necessary unless you are pressed for time which we were. My partner had never been I had and we were in Madrid for only 3 days. A half-day gives a feel for the place, which was good. The tour finishes in an artisan atelier where you can purchase the local inlayed metalwork. There was a stop at a local artist's atelier, as well, which was nice...and it had a great view, but the trip to Avila and Segovia was much, much better. The guide did an adequate but not particularly stimulating job. If you have time, it would be better to do a longer tour, or just go on your own. Would be good to check what the stops are, to confirm that interests you. For us, it was good to see the city, but it wasn't particularly memorable.
