The Pantheon, if you can see past the tourists and absorb the original outlines of this building, you will be amazed! Try to come on a very hot day, in August, when the streets are more empty than usual - and find your way here to admire the Roman genius. Or come on a rainy day and watch the rain fall through the roof onto the floor. Brilliant.

I've spent several holiday seasons in Rome, and it's truly a wonderful place to stay in December. The weather is not great, but Rome in December is beautiful and full of buzz. The shops have a very appealing holiday feel with many wonderful food and drink specialties that are unavailable at other times of year.

San Lorenzo Market has the best leather bargains in Florence. This place is not a secret, most people visit when they're in Florence. But even so the vendors are knowledgeable and the selection is good. Especially if you're looking for leather coats, wallets, shoes / boots. The market is located around the San Lorenzo church on Via del canto de Nelli.

My Recommendation Tip
Found this in a guidebook and was not disappointed. It's located in a 15th century palazzo, perfect setting for a long lunch. Everything comes from the owners farms - the food, the meats, even the wine apparently. Not too expensive around 25 or 30 euros for a full lunch.
