Chamonix and Mont Blanc

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

My Review:

We picked this tour as we wanted to see some snow while in Europe (we're from Australia!) and since we were visiting in the summer this seemed the best option. It was terrific - and yes, there was snow. The meeting place in Geneva was very easy to find and our guide, Neil, was fantastic and provided some excellent commentary while on the bus. Chamonix is simply gorgeous and provides the perfect 'alpine' picture postcard. The cable car up to Mont Blanc is a great experience. Lunch was very nice. A great day out.

Skip the Line: Ancient Rome and Colosseum Half-Day Walking Tour

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Rome, Italy

My Review:

What a great way to see the Colosseum. Our guide, Simon, was fantastic. This is his area of expertise and he really knew his topic well. Very informative and also a lot fun. So much more interesting to learn about the history with a guide then simply wandering around on your own. The skip the line tickets are worth every penny. The regular queue was enormous! I have seen the Colosseum before but this is the first time I've been inside and I'm so happy I now have. It is an amazing place.

Best of Rome Afternoon Walking Tour

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Rome, Italy

My Review:

This is definitely worth including on your itinerary if you have time. It is great to hear about what you are seeing and our guide, Francesca, was excellent. We did this tour on a very hot day and she made a point of trying to find shade whenever possible. Loved having the earpiece so you can hear everything without being right next to the guide.

2-Day Italy Trip: Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Rome, Italy

My Review:

Fantasic 2 day trip. Wished we had booked 3 so we could have squeezed in going down to Amalfi. Sorrento and Capri are simply beautiful - photo opportunities galore! The trip to the Blue Grotto on Capri was amazing. The hotel in Sorrento was beyond our expectations and the restaurant was excellent. Pompeii is very interesting and this tour provided enough time there (about 3 hours). Wouldn't bother with Naples (it's not very attractive) but you only spend about 2 hours there so not to painful, I think they only stop there so you can stretch your legs while on the journey down to Pompeii. Lunch on Day 1 was okay but not great. However overall Sorrento and Carpri were one of the highlights of our 5 week trip.

Skip the Line: Venice in One Day

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Venice, Italy

My Review:

Fantastic way to get a feel of Venice and appreciate exactly what you are looking at. Our guide, Luisa, was great and really knew her city well (she's a local). Loved having the earpieces so you can hear everything without being right next to the guide. The tour of the Grand Canal later in the day was fantastic. Best way to see Venice. Very well organised.

Skip the Line: Notre Dame Cathedral, Tower and Ile de la Cite Half-Day Walking Tour

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Paris, France

My Review:

Great way to see Notre Dame - the skip the line tickets for the Bell Tower are worth every penny - the line was enormous! We only had to wait about 15 minutes and our guide said the normal queue looked about 2 hours long. Great views from the top. Our guide, Adam, was adorable and very knowledgeable. Not a local but certainly knew his stuff.

Eiffel Tower, Seine River Cruise and Paris Illuminations Night Tour

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 4 star rating: Recommended

Location: Paris, France

My Review:

This tour is a good way of seeing Paris but you aren't with a guide as such. At the Eiffel Tower the takes you to the Skip the Line queue (worth every penny...the lines were enormous) and then you explore the tower yourself. Fantastic views. You then make your way to the Cruise boat (only across the road) at a designated time and spend about an hour aboard. The commentary is via an earpiece attached to the chair. It is a nice way to see Paris (and gives your legs a rest!). Back at the starting point the coach is waiting and you begin the night tour. This part goes on a bit too long and we didn't get back to the Tour Company's drop off point (near the Louvre) until close to 11pm, you then need to make your way back to your hotel (which we did know in advance) but by now our 11 yo son was exhausted. In retrospect I wouldn't do the night tour as you don't really gain a lot - find a nice viewpoint at night and just admire Paris from there!

Paris Bike Tour

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Paris, France

My Review:

What a fun way to see Paris! Makes such a change from walking or sitting on a bus. The weather looked bad in the morning but ended up being fine. You mostly drive on walkways so we felt completely safe and the few times we venture onto a road...it's hilarous! Just remember the 'palm of power' ;-) Our guide, Jeff, was fantastic. Not a local but certainly knew his topic. We had our 11yo son with us and Jeff made history so much fun. The bikes are well maintained and easy to ride. I'm not fit and managed to keep up pretty well!

Skip the Line: London Dungeon

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: London, United Kingdom

My Review:

We went with our 11yo son and he loved it. A great way to get a history lesson. It is designed so you feel like you are walking around the old streets of London - great actors and well thought out. Skipping the line is a must - the regular queue was at least 4 times as long.

London Full-Day Sightseeing Tour

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: London, United Kingdom

My Review:

Wow what a day! We only had 2 days in London and decided to book this tour to ensure we did see the 'big items'. Worth every penny. Our guide, Maryanne, was fantastic. So enthuastic. Yes it's a long day but it flies past. We didn't bother with the pub lunch and instead went to St Martins in the Field (you spot right near Trafalgar Sq and this church is on the corner, ask the guide for directions) and so glad we did. Excellent food and good value. Maryanne also managed to get us a great spot to view the Changing of the Guard. We chose the London Eye to end the day and there was quite a wait to get on (about an hour) but definitely worth the wait. If you don't have much time in London this is a very efficient and well spent way to see as much as possible.
