Since it was February the group was very small (5 participants). The guide, Tiziana, spoke a very good English.
In Siena there is the possibility of a 4-course meal with wine and water for 15€ and I would recommend going up the Torre del Mangia in your free time.
S.G. is very beautiful, too!
We took the am guided tour in the beginning of January. First of all I have to say that it was way more crowded than I thought, but OK.
We traveled in a comfortable double-decker bus with a window in the roof, so we also could look out there. During the drive to Versailles our guide told us about the different sights we passed.
As the castle itself was even more crowded and we were about 40 people on the tour, the guide gave us headsets and talked into a microphone. With that we were able to understand all he said even being in the other side of the room. All the rooms were burstingly full, but with a bit of patience we were able to take photos of everything from the first row.
The tour was very interesting.
In the end there was about half an hour time to visit the gift shop, gardens (not really interesting in winter), bathrooms or the cafeteria.
If it was already that crowded in winter I honestly don't want to imagine it in summer!!!
