When I arrived at the Top of The Rock the visibility at the top was nil,but was told the weather was going to be better around 12 noon,the doorman was very helpful and had a good chat with him for at least 20 minutes.Fast forward to 12 noon,,,,as I had already bought my ticket in the UK I went straight thru to the ticket desk was attended to and straight on to the elevator,the ride up in the elevator is an experience in its self,,brilliant,,it is only 62 floors high,but when you get to the top,,well,,,the view is astonishing,,in my opinion much better than the Empire State,62nd level is enclosed by glass walls with slits for cameras and seats to sit on,an escolator takes you up to the next floor and stairs up to the next floor,which is the best,it's built in the style of a ships decks,I spent almost an hour up there talking to the security guy,he told me all about Hells Kitchen,rikers Island and Hart Island,very very enjoyable information,on a scale of 1-10 this is a 12 !!!!!,and the journey down in the elevator is even better,,even in the dark,,,,,,,,no wonder they named New York twice,,,its so good.
