Picked up on time, comfortable transport and an excellent guide in Andrea. Pompeii was wonderful, especially at this time of year, early November, not overcrowded, bright clear skies and very pleasant temperature for walking around such a historic treasure. Well, done Viator, another excellent trip.

The bus came right to the port and therefore as very convenient. There are two routes, red and blue routes, and they interchange in at least a couple of places. The seats are the most comfortable that I've experienced on 'Hop-on--Hop-off' buses, compared to Paris, New York, Barcelona and London. Not as much to see, maybe as those cities, but achieved in comfort! The commentary was not constant(possibly a good thing!), but interspersed with slightly morbid 'Fado' singing--personally I'd have liked more information and no music! Overal, though , a good experience.

Normally I think that the Hop-on Hop-off buses are excellent, but unfortunately on two of our journeys over two days in Rome, the sound system did not work, despite moving seats, and trying different earpieces. Also, since my last visit, the stops have been reduced, so there is a great deal more walking required to see sites. Other open-top bus companies seem to have much greater itineraries and options available, so in future I will do some research myself in order to find the best company to book with.

Our guide was excellent but the tour did not take account of older customers. Two of our tour had knee problems and as the Colosseum lift had not worked for many days, they were unable to be involved with the part of the tour on the second and third floors above the arena. Equally with the walking around the Forum, the pace set was too fast in temperatures that were very hot for Brits. My feeling is that Rome does not gear itself for the elderley or for disabled people, and that is a great shame. At 67 I shall not be visiting Rome again, and cannot recommend it to anyone over 60!
