The morning visit to Schansee, Volendam, and Marken was very pretty. However, I would have liked to have spent more time in Schansee (windmills) than waiting an hour in Volendam for 10:30 AM lunchstop. After the pleasant boatride to picturesque Marken we were funnelled into a cheese and wooden shoe store for over an hour. These items were obviously not made at these locations. I don't mind if the tours end up in an overpriced store, but this tour was purposely designed to visit these places rather than an actual chessemaking and shoemaking factory. The afternoon tour was better, although again it started with a short tour of a delftware factory (not actually made there) and overlong visit to the "showroom/store". The time in the city of Delft was very worthwhile as was the surprisingly interesting Maurodam. The Hague portion consisted of driving quickly past a lot of beautiful buildings with only one picture stop. The countryside is beautiful. On both the morning and afternoon tours the tour guide was assisting the storekeepers in selling the goods--tacky.
