Following the Footsteps of Charles Dickens
Travel Recommendation
Location: London
My Recommendation Tip:
“I know I have lounged about the streets, insufficiently and unsatisfactorily fed. I know that, but for the mercy of God, I might easily have been, for any care that was taken of me, a little robber or a little vagabond” - Charles Dickens

London in 2012
Travel Recommendation
Location: London
My Recommendation Tip:
2012 promises to be an exciting year for London. The New Year began with the familiar sounds of the chimes of Big Ben, followed by a spectacular firework display over the River Thames. But there is even more to look forward to!

Christmas Lights in London
Travel Recommendation
Location: London
My Recommendation Tip:
The Christmas lights have been switched on in Oxford Street to add some festive cheer to the dark nights. It’s starting to be Christmastime in London and there is rarely a more enchanting time to visit London as the shops make a special effort with imaginative window displays to entice you in and there are festive events taking place throughout the city.

London Open House Weekend and Thames Festival!
Travel Recommendation
Location: London
My Recommendation Tip:
Do you like looking around places usually closed to the public? Well London is the place for you on the 17th and 18th September as we enjoy the annual Open House Weekend. From government offices like the ornate Foreign and Commonwealth Office, to financial institutions such as Lloyds of London, the doors are open to welcome you in. There are surprises too – architects’ studios, eco-buildings, even ordinary people’s extraordinary homes. Over 700 buildings open to the public for one weekend and it is all free!

London Takes Centre Stage
Travel Recommendation
Location: London
My Recommendation Tip:
With the long summer evenings, London is a great place to enjoy its world famous theatre outdoors. The atmospheric Regent’s Park Theatre presents acclaimed productions to a delighted audience sitting in an amphitheatre surrounded by trees as the sun slowly sinks. The woodland setting is magical for Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Night Dream, but also works well for this year’s unsettling Lord of the Flies. If you are looking for something lighter whilst you sip your Pimms, then how about Gershwin’s Crazy for You?

Royal Wedding: The Eyes of the World on London
Travel Recommendation
Location: London
My Recommendation Tip:
“I WAS GLAD” the choir sang as Catherine Middleton entered Westminster Abbey to marry her prince – a sentiment echoed not just in Britain but around the world as 2 billion people watched the Royal Wedding. She left the Abbey to the stirring sounds of Walton’s Crown Imperial as a princess and the new Duchess of Cambridge.

My Recommendation Tip:
Much has been made of the phenomenal success of the King’s Speech. It is an excellent film with fine performances from Colin Firth as the stuttering King George VI (the present Queen’s father) and Geoffrey Rush as the speech therapist, Lionel Logue.
