What a great trip to take and was a once in a lifetime expieriance for me. Our guides were great, full of knowledge and good company. The journey to the glacier gave us a chance to see the landscape, we heard interesting facts about volcanic action over the years. The biggest shame was the weather, it was raining all day, making it cold and, [ of corse ], very wet. Arriving, my partner says it never rains on a glacier! Wrong, But hey ho in true British tradition we went onwards and upwards! What an amazing view awaited us on arrival, a huge big glacier, imerging out of the ground. Along the way we were given loads of great facts about various folds, ravines, huge holes in the glacier. unfortunatley we could not take any photos due to the horrendous rain and wind. To say I was wet is a very huge understatement, I,rather we, were drenched through, I was up to my ancles in water inside my boots. It felt like I was sloshing about in a shower tray! So about two hours in to the expedition, an executive decission was taken by our guides to, frankly, abandon the walk and leave out the climb. We all were in agrement to this decission, but I was so dissapointed. I had sycked myself up for this chance to be an adventurer, and it was unfortunatley taken away from me. But we most definatley could not have gone on with the original plan. We had a long way back, by now we were all soaked and frozen. When we arrived back on the bus I took of all wet gear, and sat in my thermal under wear all the way back [fancy that in a bus full of strangers!] We had a well deserved lunch. I did not get out to see the fantastic waterfall, as I was not warmed up by then, I was so cold and wet. We arrived back at the hotel a sight for soar eyes bedraggled rats is a phrase that comes to mind. Dispite the horrendous weather I so enjoyed the day I would recomend taking a change of cloths with you just incase, it does no harm to have them with you. Better not use them than be so cold and wet
We had a fab trip. The booking and organizing of trip was easy. I booked the show for my partner as part of his birthday pressie. When we arrived at The Moulin Rouge it was well organized. The show lived up to its reputation. Seating was great, and we enjoyed the bottle of Champagne. A great evening and would recommend to any one. You can imagine that the whole place still looks like it would have looked way back in its original years, we are now just dressed differently!
We found it easy on the metro to find, so all in all a great time.
