We can start our tour in the Plaza de la Encarnacion radically transformed by the shopping center Parasol, better known as the mushrooms. Its architecture design leaves no one indifferent. In the basement, the Antiquarium with Roman mosaics which put us in Hispalis (roman name for Seville) 1600 years ago.

Holy Week in Seville (this year April 17th-24th) is the celebration of the passion and death of Christ through the brotherhood processions to the Cathedral. Besides the religious aspects, Holy Week in Seville is a phenomenon of socio-cultural, economic and tourist highlight the city, it has been declared of international tourist interest and is one of the main spring festivals in Seville along with the April Fair. Throughout the week there are a total of 58 processions, about 8 each day through the streets of the city in the afternoons and evenings. Also late Thursday to Good Friday there are the most famous night processions of all: the Virgin of Macarena* (not the dance!), La Esperanza de Triana, the Gran Poder ..

Springtime again in Seville

Spring is the most beautiful season in Seville. Although officially the opening is on 21 March the mild climate of Seville makes spring coming a month earlier. But the symbol of Seville is the orange tree, bitter orange trees. The sour oranges are not edible, they are mostly decorative trees and the scent of bitter is more intense than the sweet ones. Its fruit is traditionally used to bitter orange marmalade. Some cloistered convents make it and sell this local specialty. Everywhere in downtown, in neighborhoods .. flood the city of Orange colour in late winter and white flowers in March. With orange blossom can be made perfumes, also orange blossom water is calming and is used in baking.
It is without doubt the best time to visit the city. Temperatures of 23º degrees (73 F)maximum and minimum of 13ºdegrees (55 F). Sky blue, yellow and white houses and a city full of trees, more green than people think of southern Spain.
With a large river that runs through Seville, the Guadalquivir, the city sits in a fertile valley surrounded by orchards, olive groves and vineyards.
Azahar is the name for Orange flower blossoms, a word of Arabic origin. It has a pervasive and unmistakable perfume that spreads throughout the city.
Lasts a short time, about 3 weeks, but it is a spectacle for the senses.
However, the most beautiful thing is to see and smell it once a year in the orange trees of Seville.

The Renovation of Square of Spain (Plaza de Espana)

This impressive square, that was the pavilion of Spain for the American exhibition held in 1929, is a symbol of Seville. After 9 years of work, partial closures and restorations, can now be seen at its best. The original iron street lamps of the 20's have been recovered, the bridges decorated with beautiful tiles represent the four traditional kingdoms of Spain and the artificial river for boating is operating again. There, you have a spectacular view from the red and green picturesque rowboats, the typical colours of the two football teams in the city.
