Franz Josef, New Zealand
We went to the Helicopter Office was escorted across the road to the landing pad flew over the glacier and landed stood around for a few minutes the view of the ice was nice and then flew a short flight back, we sat in the back of the helicopter and was disapointed in the view, I like to take photos but they werent much through the windows, overall a bit boring and personally I wish I would of spent the money eleswhere, but you don't know untill you go, it wasn't awful.
Picked up on time, it took about 1hr to pick everyone up, the bus was nice big clean aircon, the guide and driver where great, the guide told stories and the time went fast, we had 1 stop which was enough, we arrived at 12pm it was real hot but the site was lovely well worth the trip, we were then transfered to a hotel to wait in the loby for the next bus which did not take long, sadly the bus was older and smaller with every seat taken we had to join a group which had been on the road for 4 days it was hard to join in, there were children on the bus and the air con did not work well it actually leak on two people the whole way, the rest off the day was loong, the hotel we stayed at for the night at was real nice and dinner and breakfast was good, no coffee in room, it was only a short ride to Kalambaka and the cliffs we stoped for photos and visited 2 monerstarys you go to which ever one is open on the day, and the stairs were not as bad as expected, we were finished by lunch and had a nice lunch in town then the loong drive back to Athens, to sum up Meteora is lovely but imo not worth the uncomfortable bus ride, the 1 day to Delphi trip would of been better for us, depends how much time you have and if your bothered by long bus rides,
The double decker bus was packed to the rafters, the boat ride boring the towns where rushed through at lighting sped, but you did have some time for shopping at Volendam the towns were beutifull and worth the visit. I would still recommend this tour if you could not get there on your own. :-)
London, United Kingdom
This tour is done in a van, do not sit at the back as you can not see over the seats, so this did ruin the trip for me, the music was super LOUD, but the stories were informative and interseting. and they did not end at the start point which was advertised which was a issue for us because we needed to get back to the start point for a show and we had to catch a taxi back. :-(
This was a lovely day and not to long, the scenery was lovely and the snow great fun.
the only issue was I booked on line and comfirm by phone that we needed jackets but on the day the guide did not want to give us one because we didnt leave a depoist in Zurch, first we had heard of it. so he said we would be right with our light jumper, we were freezing... :-)
Sorry but it was yuk, it was a fairly boring day, though some of the buildings nice, we were taken to the handicraft market which was just a shop filled with the hard sell staff, even though I should of know better I was tricked out of $400 after buying a item that I was told repeatedly was 1200ntd (and I have two witnesses) was charged 12000ntd and suggested I pay by card, then timely rushed out the shop by the guide and only worked out on the bus how much I just spent, I did complain to the giude but he was not to interested and having no way of going back I had to cope it.
also at the Museum you have to stay with the guide while he talks about a few pots over and over and then you have only minutes to get back to the bus or you are told you will be left behind if not there on time so it was pointless looking any further.
just yuk :-((
