Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum Half-Day Trip from Krakow

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Krakow, Poland

My Review:

This was a well organised trip with our tour guide lady being very informative and sensitive to this difficult, surreal and moving place. The children`s shoes I found the most moving in one of the museum rooms at Auschwitz 1. The museum rooms were very busy when we visited on New years day and so you had to wait for one group to leave a room before our group could enter. But we all had headphones and our guide had a microphone so she always made it clear where she was heading next or waiting for us so nobody got left behind or lost. It is worth noting that this is more than a half day trip, we left Krakow at 9.30am and arrived back in Krakow at 4pm so it is really a whole day. There is only 10 minutes or so allocated at the first Auschwitz site to buy refreshments and there is not a huge selection in the small shop and vending machines here just crisps and chocolate etc. So I would recommend bringing sandwiches on the coach as there is time to eat these when travelling between the two Auschwitz sites. This trip is definitely worth doing and I think everybody will learn something here.

Grand Tour of Los Angeles

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: Los Angeles, California

My Review:

Our tour guide Greg was very informative and friendly, the whole tour was well organised with Greg making it clear each time we left the bus what we were doing and what time we should return. The tour gives a good overall day out in the hotspots of LA and Hollywood. Greg was happy to take photos of us at the Hollywood Bowl and he took us into Tiffanys store in Rodeo Drive for a look. The bus driver Pedro was also friendly. Would highly recommend this trip.

San Francisco Hop-on Hop-off Ticket and Alcatraz Tour

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 4 star rating: Recommended

Location: San Francisco, California

My Review:

We would highly recommend the Alcatraz tour, the boats were punctual and the audio tour was fascinating and included in the original ticket price. The hop on hop off buses are not the smartest tour buses we saw around the city and a couple of the drivers we had were not very enthusiastic in their commentaries. We did notice that the drivers were holding microphones whilst driving which we thought was unsafe and headsets would be a much better idea for them. A seperate driver and tour guide on each bus would be much better. But the buses were pretty punctual at each stop being every 30 mins.

Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour plus Bay Cruise

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 3 star rating: Worth doing

Location: San Francisco, California

My Review:

The Muir Woods are very nice to visit, quiet and relaxing and we saw a few deers! Although you do not get that long there, about an hour and half so if you want to really explore and perhaps do the hiking trail etc you would need much longer. We had enought time to walk around the majority of the walkway paths. Sausalito is a very pretty little town although the food was pricey. The guide Skip was entusiastic and kept the tour rolling even though we had a suspension problem halfway round with the bus.

Grand Canyon Helicopter and Ranch Adventure

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 4 star rating: Recommended

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

My Review:

We were able to swap our trip to two days later, this was a simple phone call to the office and the lady was helpful. The helicoptor flight was one of the highlights of our time in Las Vegas. Our pilot JT was informative and friendly. We did not realise that we did not fly back over the Grand Canyon however which was slightly disappointing so make sure you get all your photos and video footage on the way out. The ranch was enjoyable and scenic, although the breakfast could be much improved. The singing cowboy on the guitar was entertaining although he reads from a piece of paper when talking about the life of cowboys which made me doubt whether he is an actual genuine cowboy! The cowboy which lead us on the horse ride seemed grumpy at first but became more chatty on the ride. My husband who had never sat on a horse before had nothing to worry about as the horses are well trained and simply follow each other at a walking pace nose to tail. We even saw a rattle snake on the ride which was exciting but the lead cowboy sensibly and in no uncertain terms told us to stay well clear of!
