The tour was fun--I was especially happy that my Viator sales person, Christina, recommended that I purchase the more expensive tour which included the "third ring" We were able to go under the colosseum and see the recently opened (April) third ring--only 150 people per day get in and that part is evidently closing to the public in Oct. So, like all the tours, if you want to skip the long lines (everywhere--all over Europe) purchase a private tour.

I purchased 6 tours through Viator during my recent visit to Europe--this was the most expensive and THE BEST!!! Our tour guide, Francesca, is getting a phD in Art History and was bubbling over with enthusiasm to lead us around. All of our tour guides through Viator spoke fluent English and were prompt and thorough on every tour. By far, this was the most fun. I don't consider myself a huge "museum person" but this tour was worth every nickel.

HUGE disappointment. I purchased 6 tours through Viator for a recent European vacation and this was the only one we didn't like. Here's the deal: according to our tour guide, the people who are in charge at Versailles, have decided that during the summer (high tourist season) they will have an exposition of thrones. The palace is not set up as it normally is viewed by tourists--with furnishings and period pieces..instead all the rooms are cleared out and we walked through like cattle into empty rooms looking at a bunch of BORING thrones. This is not Viator's fault, but don't waste your money. Long lines for nothing. I'm glad I saw the palace from the outside but I wish I hadn't wasted a half day inside. Our tour guide was somewhat apologetic about the situation too.

This was ok--we went there to see the Crown Jewels and that was, by far, the highlight. It was worth it to skip the long lines to purchase tickets.

Super fun tour!! Our taxi driver was extremely knowlegable and fun. We stopped at several sites so he could tell us the history and at the end, he dropped us off where we wanted to go. Really fun and worth the money to get personalized service. I would definitely do it again.
