Muir Woods, Giant Redwoods and Sausalito Half-Day Trip

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: San Francisco, California

My Review:

Nice trip. Were picked up from a designated pick up hotel location near to where we were staying but we were then taken a few blocks away to their tour office to collect our various passes. We then got on another tour bus for our trip to Muir Woods. We might have made our way direct to the tour office had we known how the pick-up would work. However, the guide was friendly, funny and knowledable. The length of time allowed at Muir Woods was just enough to take a short walk and stop for refreshments. You would need much longer there if you wanted to follow one of the mapped walks. We were happy with the length of time allowed. After 20 minutes, one Redwood looked rather like another. There are many visitors to Muir Woods and we were pleased we had decided to take the morning tour. As we left, the car-park was full and parking had to revert to the roads outside the entrance. The stop at Sausalito on the return journey was lovely. Just enough time for a bite to eat or a browse around or to just sit looking over the bay. On our return into the city the driver was kind enough to drop us directly outside our hotel (which annoyingly he passed on the journey out) which meant we didn't have to walk back from their tour office. A nice trip and didn't take up the whole day. Would recommend.

Golden Gate Bay Cruise

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: San Francisco, California

My Review:

We all really enjoyed this cruise. We had planned to do this on our first day, making it a nice slow start to our trip. However, the weather didn't clear that day and so we decided to wait as the 'open ticket' allowed. The location of pier 43 was a little tricky to locate. It was at the back and behind an open car park. We lined up for a trip later the next day and were boarded onto a smaller boat than expected. No real issue, but the larger boats looked that little more impressive but maybe they board according to the numbers taking that particular trip. The commentary was clear and good. Having just ridden bikes over the bridge it was nice to see it from underneath. We also liked seeing Alcatraz Island from the other side. Am pleased we decided to take this trip - a nice start to the vacation.

Top of the Rock Observation Deck, New York

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: New York City, New York

My Review:

Definately the best viewing platform in New York. We had planned to do this on our last evening as we had already seen the view from the Empire during the day. However, at 10.00pm we were told that visability was down to zero so we should maybe try later or another day. The last entry was at 11.00pm and so we felt we may have missed the opportunity. At 10.45, as we were staying nearby, we returned to see what the situation was and were told that visability was good. We collected our tickets downstairs with every one else but there was a line for vouchers. We then joined the same line as everyone else for the lift and usual photo. There were not many visitors that late and so the lines were not too long. There are various viewing levels at the top and the views are stunning. It's nice to see the lights at night without having to crane your neck to look up! Definately recommend this

Empire State Building Tickets - Observatory and Optional Skip the Line Tickets

Tour / Activity

My Rating: 5 star rating: Highly Recommended

Location: New York City, New York

My Review:

The best part about this trip was being able to bypass ALL the lines - to the top and back down again. You have to show your Express Pass to someone at the first line, just anyone in a uniform, and they take or direct you to another person and so on. Once at the top, the area is small and when there are lots of visitors you can't move about well. On a clear day the views are obviously very good. The weather was a little hazy on our visit but you could still make out landmarks where you might have already been before. Visiting the Empire is a must for a first visit to New York but having now done this three times i'll not need to do it again. The absolute best part of this visit though was having an Express Pass - even though we visited at about 10.00am before peak times. If you want to feel like a VIP - buy the Express Pass.
