Phuket Introduction City Sightseeing Tour

Phuket, Thailand

Although this was the same tour company that brought us great tours in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, they hit a wall in Phuket. The tour guide barely spoke English and provided no history. Example - his narrative at a cashew factory was merely "Cashew. Nut from tree. You can buy." Then he disappeared for a half hour. We went to a lookout spot and one temple, but he was absent at the temple and provided us no information other than "don't go to third floor". The rest of the "tour" was...well, you get what you pay for. There is a reason it's under $20. If you haven't bought trinkets and want to shop, you will like this. They take you to shop after shop; magnets, cashews, gems, and other. The guide disappears at those stops and you just have to wait...and shop and the tourist traps that are subsidizing the "tour." If you want to shop, you'll like this. If you visited any other part of Thailand, it will be a waste. We felt like we wasted half a day. They picked us up an hour late and delayed at theshops way too long and we lost a day I would like to have back to SUP or walk around myself.

This tour with great. The guide was really knowledgable and customized the tour when we asked to visit a temple not on his itinerary. The scenery is beautiful and I feel we would have missed a lot without a guide.

Private Tour: Floating Markets of Damnoen Saduak Cruise Day Trip from Bangkok

OK, yes, this location is now for tourists. But guess what? You are visiting a foreign country and you likely will not blend. You are a tourist. For this one have fun with it. We did the tour on Sunday and I have to recommend that as there was no traffic. Our guide told us the trip to the market can be a lot longer on weekdays. We went to a coconut factory adn then to the markets where our guide got us a private boat to go around in. We saw some others comment about our luck. The markets were a great place to get lunch, we pulled over to a few food stands on boats and it was so much fun. The food at the docks was also good. If you buy trinkets when in the boat you will pay more than the large fixed price store in the docks. Just know that or check their prices first if you really want the haggle experience. Getting people down 65% still had the same results. We noticed this across the board. Stick to food, but it is worth the cost to go around the market on boat.

Our tour guide was great. He took great care of us and placed us in the right spots for photos. He was very knowledgable and answered all of our questions. We did this tour and the Grand Palace on the same day and that worked out wonderfully. We stayed with the same guide and saved time. Did I mention the guide was great? He allowed us to speed up and slow down as we wanted and even take an unscheduled street vendor stop without question. We were lucky enough to stumble on a monk being ordained and our guide explained everything and put us in place to get favors. Highly recommend.
