St Andrews and Fife Small Group Day Trip from Edinburgh

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Well, St. Andrews and typical Scottish weather - cold, windy, and wet. Still, we had a wonderful time along the coast of Fife visiting small villages and with three hours or so in the town of St. Andrews, we had plenty of time to walk part of the Old Course, tour the British Golf Museum, eat lunch, and dodge the puddles. I definitely recommend small group tours instead of a big bus.

Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands Small Group Day Trip from Edinburgh

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Shelby was our driver/guide and she was knowledgeable, funny, and passionate about Scotland. We had a great day weather-wise, enjoyed wonderful food at The Bothy when we stopped at Loch Ness (tried the cullen skink soup on Shelby's recommendation - similar to fish chowder), and experienced superb views everywhere the van stopped. I would definitely recommend this tour (even though it was a long day) and wish future riders the same great weather we had.

Tuscany in One Day Sightseeing Tour

Florence, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This was a wonderful day - beautiful scenery and outstanding food. Sienna is a hilltop medieval town with a gorgeous cathedral. The lunch at an organic farm included four different wines, laughter, food, and new friends. San Gimigiano is another hilltop town - great for wandering, window shopping, and gelato. Pisa is remarkable and I have a lovely photo of the leaning tower and a full moon. Long, tiring day but a highlight of our Italian vacation.

Our guide Anna provided us with the interesting tidbits a visitor wouldn't get on his own. Seeing Michaelangelo's David and enjoying more gelato (included on the tour) made the cost of the tour worth it.

Pompeii Day Trip from Rome

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

A long day's trip from Rome but worth it. We experienced the bus ride halfway up Vesuvius and hiked the trail to the top. Marvelous views of Naples and the Bay. Excellent lunch included and then on to Pompeii. Amazing to see how truly large and advanced the city was for its time; really glad I went on this tour.

Paulo was an excellent guide! The Colosseum is stupendous but the Forum and Palantine added to the tour. Near the spot where Julius Caesar was supposedly killed by Brutus, Paulo recited the "Friends, Romans, countrymen" speech from Shakespeare. As a retired English teacher, that really added to the tour.

Claudia was our guide and did an outstanding job. She provided lLots of information on the art and architecture. So happy we chose to skip the line - Rome was hot that day and the line waiting for tickets was long.
